We were in South Bend for a wedding & this hotel was on the 'recommended' list by the bride & groom. It's across the street from the beautiful campus of St. Mary's College & just down the street from the Notre Dame Campus. Our room was down the hall from the breakfast area & close to the exercise room, sauna & hot tub, which we took full advantage of. We had these facilites ALL to ourselves while we were there. The temperature of the water in the hot tub was WAY too hot to enjoy, but the sauna was great. There were 2 separate showers just outside the sauna & next to the hot tub. The free breakfast buffet included make-your-own-waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy ~ every thing you could possibly want. There is a 24-hour juice & coffee bar in the breakfast area as well. The room was large & the bed was comfortable. There was a nice loveseat & ottoman as well. The front desk had free items for the taking, such as small vanity mirrors, pads & pens & grooming kits with scissors, nail clippers & a file. The staff was courteous & helpful & recommended a great place to go for a nice dinner ~ a 26,000 sq.ft. mansion formerly owned by a Studebaker car company mogul! A great experience overall!

We stayed here based on recommendations from other tripadvisor reviews. We were shocked at the condition of our room at this hotel.
It was only partially remodeled & was not properly cleaned. The tub was filthy, complete with hair & dirt. We could not even shower. Also, the AC unit was leaking & the floor around the unit was soaking wet. The ceiling was full of cobwebs & the bedding was that really thin cheap bedding. The room was so awful that we really couldn't sleep.

I brought these issues to the attention of the front desk & they did not apologize or offer to fix them.

We did not find the staff friendly at all. We were not greeted nicely on arrival or thanked upon departure.

I can't believe this is the same hotel written about in these other reviews.

The lobby was pretty nice & the breakfast was ok--definitely not exceptional.

The cost of a "suite"--it was not a real suite but just a larger room, was much more then other hotels in this hotel category.

We would definitely not stay here again or recommend to anyone.

We had a fabulous stay at the Inn at St. Mary's. The location was perfect for visiting the Notre Dame Campus and the College Football Hall of Fame. The staff was great throughout our stay and the room was clean and very nice. The breakfast was the best we have ever had during any hotel stay (even better than the full cooked to order type at some other chains). The excercise facility and spa along with the showers/restrooms and the free juice bar was a nice touch. The business center gets a little warm and could use better ventilation but is very convenient. I did use the laundry facilities and they were well priced and very clean.

Great job Inn at St. Mary's. This was the best hotel stay during our summer road trip this year!

This is a fantastic hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and the hotel itself was in great condition. The rooms are spacious and they offer Aveda products!

I also liked the fact that they have a 24 hr. full service beverage station available in the lobby. My boyfriend and I had to leave the for the airport at 6am and they already had a full, complimentary breakfast laid out.

We will definitely be staying here the next time we're in town.
