Just driving by some weeks ago, we saw the sign that the restaurant was now "Golden Dragon". So, we thought we'd try it. As we arrived a guy was coming out of the restaurant with a sack of carryout. I stopped him and asked about his experience (my personal TripAdvisor). He said the restaurant was an expansion of a 9-year old carryout-only location up the road a half-mile or so; said it was consistently good food. I asked if he, as a regular customer, had a particular dish he liked and he quickly recommended the Dragon-Phoenix.
So my girlfriend and I went in and I ordered the Dragon Phoenix, which was a combination of Gen. Tso's chicken and something like a sesame seed succulent creamy shrimp, served separately and nicely presented. It was very tasty. My girlfriend had beef and broccoli - the beef was tender and also tasty. (Throughout the meal I kept getting pleasant faint whiffs of a spice that I couldn't quite place...I think it was saffron...a nice bonus sensory experience.) Of course, both dishes were served with steamed rice.
Misc: As of Nov. 14, 2012, they did not have their beer/wine license but they said it was in process and they should have it soon. The menu is extensive with lots of offerings, including sushi. Prices are reasonable. The decor is not upscale and does not include tablecloths but is pleasant and clean...they did a nice job of remodeling. Interestingly, they also have a drive-through. They said they were working on a website.
At this point, our favorite local Chinese restaurant is still Mandarin House. But our first experience with the new Golden Dragon was very positive - the food was good, a good value and nicely presented. We'll be back.
