“STAY AWAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

Please, in the name of all that is holy, DO NOT STAY AT LAKE RUDOLPH. If you’re wondering why, I’m happy to tell you all the reasons. First of all, the Lake Rudolph experience absolutely destroys anything people actually like about the great outdoors. Between the loud movies they show, the loud campers shouting and drinking at the next campsite over, the golf carts people ride around everywhere, and so on, there is no “peace of nature” to be had here. The golf cart riders are obnoxious, engaging in in-your-face exultation while they cut you off as you try to back your car or trailer into your space (and nothing says the great outdoors more than golf carts, of course!) The setting is far too large, spreading over at least 100 acres, and in an effort to make all the money they can, the campground managers have packed in all the spaces they can as tightly as possible, giving you absolutely no privacy. Too many of the campers bizarrely embrace one aspect of traditional camping, the campfire, and indulge in it even on sweltering hot nights in August, which doesn’t make you think too highly of their intelligence. Please stay away from this place at all costs, especially if you like your camping to involve any interaction with nature, instead of with annoying, stupid tourists. If all you want is a cheap place to stay in southern Indiana, you have lots of other options.

We have stayed with a group of friends every year. Our favorite is the new Christmas cabins. Plenty of room, clean, huge deck that the kids "camped" on, great air conditioning, plenty of supplies for cooking, and easy access to bus stops.
Shower is only about 6ft so if you have anyone tall its not going to work. Hot water heater is small so definitely have to choose shower times to allow for hot water.

Super size RV's are spacious and comfy and its easy to book a few together for larger groups. They are well stocked and clean. Bring a laptop to watch TV/movies in case of rain.

Campground is close enough to amusement park to go back and take a nap or eat lunch and them head back to the park again.

Rent a golf cart and its even more fun. You can decorate it with a fun theme and steal the show!

My family loves this place! We go every year. You can tent camp, rent a cabin, rent an RV or bring your own camper/RV. We rent an RV, which works great for us. They supply dishes and cookware. You just bring your bedding, clothes, food, etc. The property is located right next to Holiday World and offers free shuttle service all day long. The property has a playground, swimming pool, camp store, snack shack, laundry, arcade, and a lot of family friendly activities. No visit would be complete without renting a golf car to cruise around the campgrounds. This is our kids' favorite thing! A couple of nights a week they also have a glow parade where you get to decorate your golf car along with other families and parade through the property. There's also so much to do if you decide to venture out into the town of Santa Claus. It's a great weekend getaway or a inexpensive summer vacation.

This is a campground and resort next door to Holiday World. If you are wanting nature and quiet this is probably not the place for you. It is a very busy place and because it is geared to family's there are lots of kids. You can also rent golf carts to get around the grounds which is the appeal to most people. Went during the Halloween weekends and the owners go all out for the kids. These weekends are very busy and you should book up to a year in advance. Although you can check in with them in September and October for cancellations. Great place for non campers who want to experience "camping light" with rental RV's and cabins. Great poximity to Holiday World and would recommend a visit there as well.

Room Tip: Book early you can always cancel later if it doesn't work out.

We stay every year for the Halloween Weekends. It is so much fun! The campground is clean - bathrooms are very nice and heated. Campstore has many amenities and if they don't - there is a grocery store and dollar store across the street. We used our own camper but have viewed the cabins and the rental RVS - they are all very nice - maybe a bit spendy but they are great if you don't have a camper.

Stayed here on a Friday and Saturday for a Halloween Weekend. Had a great time and really liked the place – this was our first time staying. We camped in our own RV and had a Deluxe Site with a concrete pad – pad was perfectly level (69-D)

Some spots looked easy to back into, ours was not – very unlucky placement of a tree on the opposite side of the road made for a very difficult back and turn of a 36 foot trailer on a 1 way road. Was not a big deal for me – but anyone shy or new at backing big trailers into small spaces needs to be prepared and practiced.

This place is golf cart mania – you are either on a golf cart or dodging a golf cart – the place is so big you really need one (but harder to get without significant advance reservation). I can understand why there are so many and they are so popular – it can be a long walk depending on where you are in the park and where you want to go. Our site to the store was about .4 miles each way – not too bad, but I wished I had a golf cart by trip #2.

I am surprised at the number of rental RV’s – a large portion of the resort is taken up by these rentals – a lot looked unoccupied to me. Wish there were more RV spots to park in place of some of these RV rentals…but I am sure they are there because they make more money than a regular site. (just wishfull thinking)

Will stay here again if I can get a reservation! Not having luck finding an opening for another Wekend this year.
