We have just returned from 4 wonderful days, staying at this hidden gem in the Cotswolds. I'm basically endorsing the previous positive reviews and vouching for their accuracy. Clapton Manor (parts of which date from Tudor times) is a comfortable and obviously much-loved family home. It's quiet and peaceful with beautiful views and sits in its own two-acre garden. The owners are both keen gardeners and have a wealth of knowledge on the subject and will happily advise on which gardens to visit in the area. Despite Clapton Manor's apparent seclusion, there are many excellent gardens within easy reach, including Hidcote, Sudeley Castle and Sezincote to name but a few. Places of interest such as Bath, Stratford-on-Avon and Blenheim Palace are a little further afield, but still accessible. The owners will also suggest excellent restaurants or pubs for dinner in the vicinity. There are two pretty double bedrooms for guests and a sitting room, where afternoon tea is served, for their exclusive use. Others have commented on the excellent and generous breakfast on offer and I would recommend that, whatever your day's plan, you get home in time for afternoon tea and one of Karin's home-baked cakes! As with everything in life, it's the people who really make a place and in Karin you have a warm, friendly and humorous host, who sets out to ensure that her guests are well looked after and feel "at home". Despite obviously being a very busy lady, she always took time out to talk to us and I shall remember our chats by the fireside for a long time to come.
On a practical note, it goes without saying that a car is essential.
