“My home away from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2010

I have stayed at Parke Bridge numerous times and anxiously await many future visits. Yes, the rooms are a bit small, but it is an older motel afterall, but VERY WELL KEPT. And the owner is as friendly a lady as you will ever meet. She provides very clean rooms and the most comfortable bedding I've ever experienced in ANY hotel/motel, etc. and the price is very affordable. After a long day of canoeing and/or hiking and a good hot meal, I love to sit out on her large wrap-around porch on the swing or rocking chair and RELAX. As my title states, it IS my home away from home. FIVE STARS AND THEN SOME!

The owner of this place is a sweetheart. We called on our way there, was able to get 2 rooms. She walked us to them and we picked out the ones we wanted. Very clean, very comfortable. We were tired from hiking all day and just wanted a hot shower and a comfortable bed. The lady was nice enough to let us wash a load of clothes.
She takes PRIDE in offering the cleanest rooms you'll find at a motel. GREAT service!!
We will be back to stay in the near future............:)

This motel is small town America at it's best...

This motel is located right in the heart of Rockville, Indiana or as we fondly call it, small town America...

Small quaint motel within easy walking distance to downtown Rockville with all of it's small town shopps, including an old fashioned 5 & 10 store that carries just about everything that you would need, to resturants, to quaint houses along the town square to a local watering hole tavern. They even have a movie house in Rockville. The local attraction is the covered bridges, which are a lovely drive and a great way to soak up the simple country scenery.

This motel is a a small town gem...
Each room is decorated in a local theme...
Covered Bridge rooms...
Farm rooms...
Cival War rooms...
Bike rooms...
Country charm rooms...
Quilt rooms...
Each room is equiped with the basics (tv, radio, table & chairs)
Nothing fancy, but clean, affordable and homestyle charm...
There is a community room that has an ice machine, microwave, coffee, snacks that is all run on an honor system. When is the last time that you saw a payment honor system for anything now-a-days, only in Rockville.

If you are looking to get away from it all, this is for you...

We stayed at the Parke Bridge one night for a softball tournament. Quaint and cute are adequate words to describe the motel. The motel appears to have been built on a large lot that includes a regular older home. The owners/managers live in the downstairs part of the home, and the upper floor is available as a two-bedroom suite in addition to the units in the motel that is built in an L-shape around the house.

Each room is decorated in a different local theme. If you like country primitive decorating you will love this place. Our room had two double beds, two side chairs with a small table, a desk, and a small TV on a stand. The room was not cramped, but I was there with my daughter. If all four family members were there it would have been cramped.

The room was very well kept for an older structure. It was very clean and maintained. The unit had a window air-conditioner that was too noisy to run at night or hear the TV without turning up the volume. A ceiling fan helped keep the room cool when the AC got annoying. The alarm clock worked but the buttons to set the alarm time didn't work and I couldn't set the time I wanted the alarm to go off.

The bathroom was very tiny! Sitting on the toilet would have been difficult if I was a large person. The bathroom counter was right in front of the toilet, so close I could have eaten breakfast while sitting on the toilet. No male of any size, perhaps except for a child, could stand in front of the toilet in the normal position to relieve oneself. A sideways approach was required. The bathroom also lacked complimentary shampoo and a hair dryer. Inexplicably, the owners did choose to provide a coffee maker.

There is a vending room with drinks, ice, and snacks that you pay for on the honor system. Guests are invited to spend the evening sitting on the large front porch of the main house. Remember I said the place was quaint?

Parke County is the site of an annual Covered Bridge Festival, and Rockville is the central starting point. The Parke Bridge Motel is a nice, off the beaten path place to stay if you are attending the festival or are in the area for some reason - maybe you got lost. There aren't many choices in Rockville, and this is one of the better ones.

Parke Bridge Motel is an inexpensive, clean, old-fashioned, small motel in a small town. Just what we like. Parking is a bit cramped, and having only instant coffee available (microwave-heated water) was a bit disappointing, but hey ... it's the road.

This hotel is small and comfortable. Each room has a different theme from the local area. The owner is wonderfully friendly. The covered bridges are easy to find with color coded signs that you just follow. We drove for hours and took pics of every bridge and walked through or drove through. We also visited Turkey Run state park which was beautiful and reminded me of Oregon. It rained but it was still a great hike. You can choose the level you are comfortable with at the park. It was the best day ever!

  • Liked — The hospitality room with tea and coffee and snacks open all the time
  • Disliked — The smokey front office

This motel was a perfect weekend get away! The room we stayed in was so cozy, charming, and comfortable. Each room is decorated with a theme that has to do with Parke County. The price was very reasonable too. The lady who owns the motel is so sweet and personable. She's helpful too about the area and things to do. When we go back, we will stay there again!!
