“Wonderful Food in Richmond, IN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

We had lunch at Ghyslain recently and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was some of the best we've had a a long time and the deserts were to die for! Save room for desert at all costs! We had to take part of our lunch home in a clam shell so we could indulge ourselves with desert! The district where the restaurant is located is coming back after over fifty years of decline and it is really nice to see things pick up there.

“Enjoyable lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Went to Ghyslain for lunch with friends. First visit, and i have to say it was very pleasant. The food was very good. The service was excellent. timely, friendly. This is a five star restaurant, but still maintains a small community atmosphere.

“outstanding food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Ghyslain is a great place to stop with friends or family. You can shop after at CoCo's right next to the restaurant . The food is great but I don't like their coffee anymore since they quit buying Main Street Brand. The food is rich and there is lots of it. The desserts are heavenly to eat and to look at. They have wines along with the coffee and tea to drink. Piping hot french bread with butter to slather on it. You can fill up easily just on that alone. Check them out in the wonderful Historic Depot District

“So close”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014

Went for lunch through the week. Figured it would be a slow period and I could take my time and really get a feel for the place. The bread they serve was outstanding. My entree was flank steak with a bechamel sauce and duck fat fries. The kitchen got the cook on the steak wrong twice (I had asked for medium and it came out raw the first time and rare the second), the bechamel had broken and was gloupy, the steak was not of a particularly high quality. The saving grace however were the fries. Wonderful golden brown, and the duck fat makes a tremendous difference. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts. You can tell that a trained, competent chef devised the menu and then handed it over to someone making $8 an hour for the execution. Perhaps if they were willing to pay for a decent sous chef they could break through into excellence.

“A wonderful stop for chocolate, gelato or a light meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

While the Depot District itself is not worth diverting for, Ghyslain's is definitely worth a stop if you want some wonderful light fare, chocolates, pastry or gelato. The connecting store also has plenty of goodies to tempt the visitor. Our spirits picked up considerably after having been let down by the lackluster Depot District.
