We stopped over in Rensselaer on the way home from Brown County, Indiana and we were glad we did. The White House on Park Avenue is a beautiful, historic home with devoted owners. They graciously allowed us to check in early because our room was ready, and they were really helpful with directions and suggestions about where to eat in town. They seemed happy to share the history of the home and its importance to the area. The location is perfect for visiting Willow Slough or Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife area (it's located right between the two). Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed was really comfortable. We appreciated the delicious oatmeal cookies in our room and the refrigerator with complimentary soft drinks and water down the hall. My only suggestion would be for hot drinks to be available in the evening as well. We had just spent the week in B&B lodgings and inns, and the breakfast here was the best of all of them. It included a "fruitini," (fresh fruit with honey and granola, served in a martini glass), baked eggs, orange french toast and the best bacon I have ever tasted. The coffee was great, too. The owners clearly love their home, and are warm and caring. I highly recommend the White House on Park Avenue.
