I want to eat where the food is real, and support a restaurant in a small town that is trying to do it in a big city way. They have an interesting menu, my favorite is the Black and Blue salad a version of the classic wedge. It's very good! While not everything on the menu hits 100% with me, ( i like their hamburgers, too! ) most is very good and it has a Cajun, N'awlins flavor. And I DO know what it means to miss New Orleans!
I like to be refered to places with good music and they often have live music. The TUESDAY NIGHT JAZZ COMBO JAM IS A REAL FIND! The 3 musicians are all long time pros that have backed up the likes of Aretha Franklin (the sax), Si Zentner band ( trombone) and the keyboard guy plays in hot spots in Indy. An amazing find, tucked away off HWY 31, just north of Kokomo.
Well worth the trip down from South Bend or Chicago or Fort Wayne for the music Tuesday nights and the food. Will need reservation for dinner time on Tuesday nights, I think. I like to go later myself. The decor/ambience is New Orleans -style as well as some of the food items. They just added stuffed beignets to the menu that are to die for! :)
Oh, on Tuesday nights, the wait staff dresses up in Mardi Gras type dress! And you could even buy artwork from a local artist.
Anyway, if I were traveling in this part of the country I would want to know about this place!! :)
