“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Dined here Friday lunch and had the fixed price lunch offer: $25 for a substantial main and a glass of wine. Delicious and excellent value for money! Especially when you look at what is on offer in October for 'Lets do Lunch' at lesser venues for $38-. Then returned Saturday night with friends (what can I say, we like our food and wine) and again were wowed with the superb quality of the dishes produced by the always charming Chef Rainer and the great table service from the staff.
I don't care if they change things on the menu because whatever comes out of the kitchen is great. What did we do before the internet? We went to restaurants and were surprised. Cafe Lyon is consistently great and think we are very spoilt here in Lindfield. Fabulous!

“Suburban Treasure in Lindfield”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We had eaten here in one of the sites previous incarnations but our Saturday meal at Cafe Lyon was a delight. We were greeted warmly and professionally, ushered immediately to our upstairs table, settled in with menus and water and left in the charge of a very articulate and knowledgeable waiter. Six of us chose from the 2 and 3 course fixed price menu and there were no disappointments. Menu options were carefully explained, the food arrived at well timed intervals and was uniformly excellent . The wine list was comprehensive and fairly priced.
When one of the dessert choices ran out, the chef cheerfully and promptly substituted a wonderful raspberry soufle. In the desert that is North Shore dining, Cafe Lyon has warmth, food excellence and fair pricing. Truly delightful and for us, a great find

“Dissapointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We have eaten at Cafe Lyon several times, the first being straight after they opened and we loved the food , ambience and the service. Unfortunately our last visit was a total disappointment. We were crammed into their upstairs dinng space and upon arrival were seated next a couple and their baby, who soon thereafter needed a nappy change. As the restaurant is not set up for baby's,the waiter suggested he set up a nappy change area in full view of our table! Having paid for a babysitter ourselves for a night out we were shocked. Luckily the couple took their child away for the change, but the tone for the evening had been set.
The food was OK , although not as good as the previous visits, and the service was below par. It is great to have a local bistro but perhaps they need to look back to their beginnings or risk loosing their regular clients.

“A little Gem !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Amazing, we went here the first time with friends a few months ago as an excuse to buy and drink some fine French wine .. which we did. However the Restaurant was a big surprise, it was cosy and had a fixed price menu $65 for three courses... The Restaurant is not large and has a really nice feel and buzz to it, and despite not being large they have set out the tables so it is not too cramped. There is a good selection (not overly large) but a nice variety, and everything they did they did well. In a nutshell the food and service was amazing... We went on a Saturday and it was busy but in a good way and the staff attentive and very friendly without being too much. We were so impressed so we invited a different group of friends to come with us again a month later and I was very pleased to see our first visit was not a one off, once again amazing service and food.

My favourite was the entree Wood Mushroom & Truffle Tart, it was just a perfect balance of flavours and as a main the Quail Ballantine Sage & Chestnut Stuffing which was a good size (generous) and amazing flavours again.

“A lovely restaurant hidden in suburbia....recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

I ate at Cafe Lyon last week with a couple of girlfriends - highly recommend Cafe Lyon in Lindfield.
The fixed price menu is a great idea - we all knew what the price would be going into dinner so knew what to expect. I opted for the 3 course meal - pork belly for entree (yum), trout for main (excellent), profiteroles for dessert (HUGE - very filling)
great meal for a good price.
there were no kids there, i don't know whether it is really a child friendly restaurant, but a great destination for a casual (yet delicious) catch up with friends
