“Quaint and Quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We stayed here in the middle of June when visiting Nashville, Indiana. It was a quiet location, and the decor is charming! Not to mention the line-dried sheets on the bed! Felt like home. We had a queen-size bed in our room with room to move around and a nice size shower with great water pressure and hot water! The owners were very friendly and helpful on helping us find our way around. I would stay here again, and would prefer to stay here when we visit again. A very comfy place to rest your head.

I stayed at this hotel August 2007 and then again in May 2012. As I remember it my room was better the first time. The first time I was by myself and this time I was with my parents. The room we had was very small for three of us. Barely fit the two beds with minimal space to walk around and not enough room for our luggage - and we didn't have much. The good things about this place are the people who run it - very friendly and helpful (even when we had to call at 11:30 p.m. because other guests were making noise, they took care of it immediately), the price was okay considering it was graduation weekend at IU, and it was clean. I did have wifi internet connection, although it did go out at one point, but I talked to the front desk person and he reset the server and then I had no problem. The downsides are that it could use some renovation and updating - things seem a bit worn out (vinyl on the bathroom floor peeling up in the corner, for example), there is no fridge in the room, or table or chair and the lighting isn't very good. It's a very basic place. Thankfully we were busy and didn't spend much time in the room.

The Green Valley Lodge is a simple, comfortable, friendly place to stay when you visit Brown County. My daughter (11) and I found the accommodations more than adequate. We had a lovely 4 poster canopy bed which delighted her. We found the bedding to be cozy and slept comfortably. The towels were also just fine, everything was clean (which is more than I can say for hotel rooms for which I've paid more than double what I paid for a night here)

When we drove up that afternoon at about 3pm, Lana, the owner, was hanging the bedding laundry on lines outside in the sunshine to dry. I LOVED that. It's environmentally sound and is so delightfully old-fashioned and fitting with the feel Brown County works so hard to cultivate, it sets a mood immediately. Her grandson, maybe 3 or 4 was playing hide and seek in between the lines, with the spring trees blooming, and a creek babbling behind them. Gorgeous.

We wanted to go riding, and her husband tried to set us up as we were checking in, but as we also took our trip on the spur of the moment, all the nearby stables were booked. It was ok, though, we appreciate that he tried for us. We went into town instead, and spent the afternoon shopping.

I have to take issue with some of the low reviews, since clearly the people writing them were unhappy because they didn't plan ahead, weren't able to acquire the luxury accommodations they were hoping for/accustomed to, and are reacting to that.

Ideally, you come to Brown County/Nashville to experience the town and the surrounding area, not spend your time in your room on the computer. If you must, and your location doesn't have wi-fi, there are places in town that do. Some of the more remote Inns and cabins don't have phone/television/computer . . . anything. Brown County is not New York City. Heck, it's not even Indianapolis . . . but that's why people come.

Green Valley Lodge is affordable, comfortable and friendly. It's also one of the few places that will let you reserve a room for a single night; many of the lodging options in the county require a minimum 2 night stay. It's not a 5-star Hotel, but it doesn't pretend to be. It's just NICE, simple, clean. I would recommend it anyone, without hesitation, and anybody who would avoid it because it's not "chic" enough for their taste isn't someone I'd be particularly interested in traveling with anyway.

We rolled into town unexpected 2 couples, looking for a place to stay that suited everyone. One needed wireless, one needed quiet, one needed a hot tub and one just wanted to sleep.
Well everyone got what they wanted for a very resonable price. Both couples got the hot tub suites, in the one suite there are two rooms along with a microwave, small fridge and coffee maker (really nice since everything closes so early). The other suite was over the office and had 3 seperate areas, one with the hot tub one with a couch and then the bedroom. This suite has its own balcony. The balcony is not covered in case you smoke and it is raining. Overall this was a hidden gem that needs to be unearthed. As far as the internet connection there was not a problem for one persons laptop and another person in the party had a kindle fire. Both were connected and running smoothly not sure what the other reviewer was having issues with.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the back side, facing the parking lot. I do not have pictures sorry.

My wife and I were able to get the MLK weekend off and decided to go to Brown County. We wanted a room with a Hot Tube and Wireless Internet. Calling around last minute we were only able to get into the Green Valley Lodge. After reading the reviews we thought the Green Valley Lodge would be ok.
Like most working adults we take our work with us on the road and need internet to stay up to date and running a small online business. The Green Valley Lodge Does Not Offer Wireless Internet. I was told that was our computer and the guy up front said the internet was working and it was our computer. This is the first out of a hundred hotels we have stayed in that it was mysteriously our commuters. Also the bed sheets were very old and felt like sleeping on sand paper. The towels were no better and felt as if we had sand paper to dry off with. We do not recommend this below average hotel for anyone to waste there hard earned money on. It was nothing more then a below average dump motel with a hot tub in the room.

We stay here at least once a year, usually over Thanksgiving and the experience is always outstanding. The rooms are small but well decorated with rocking chairs, quilts, and canopy beds. The linens are line dried and smell wonderful. Everything is immaculate. There aren't a lot of extras, although they do have hot tub suites, but we would gladly exchange a cold cereal breakfast for a clean, quiet room. The rates are very good and we don't even consider staying anywhere else.

This hotel offered the best rates in the entire Nashville area, so I was a bit worried at what we might find. We were very pleasantly surprised. The Lodge is pristine... fresh paint throughout, the bathroom fixtures were so clean they sparkled, and everything looked like it could have been brand new. Our room was decorated with warm yellows and powder blues, and the beds were spread with country quilts that were so appropriate for this area. The owner was friendly, and offered to make us a pot of coffee at night when we got in.
