After reading some complimentary reviews, our family headed out to Mishkenut Mediterranean Cuisine for dinner. It is a family run business. It was a slow night and only three people were working, but each one stopped by to make sure that we were having an enjoyable experience. They were each extremely personable and we enjoyed our conversations with each. Not being experienced with Mediterranean cuisine, they were very helpful in explaining the dishes. We started with a sampler platter. We have had grape leaves at other restaurants before and thought they were just okay, but decided to give them a try. We're still not huge fans of grape leaves, but these were the best of any we have tried. The fried kibbeh and prune rolls were excellent. Wrap a prune in bacon with nuts is very good - combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy! They even through in another item on our platter just to get our opinion. It was like a deep fried mashed potato that was very good and a nice surprise. For dinners, we had beef kabobs, lamb kabobs, chicken shawerma, and beef shawerma. All were very good. The lamb kabobs were probably the best lamb I've had. For desert, we had some baklava, which was quite good. When the check arrived, a piece of chocolate for each of us came with the check. Very nice touch! Needless to say, we will be going back. It is not big or fancy, but it is very good. Please support this restaurant! I'd like to be able to go back for years to come.
