We rented at cabin at the IB Campground June 15-16, 08 and had a very nice time. The attitude of the woman behind the check-in counter needs to be corrected, but otherwise everyone was very nice. The cabin was in great shape and my children had a very nice time. The cabin might look small on the outside, but the 4 of use fit comfortably with all of our stuff. We also put up a portable picnic table in the front room because it was raining outside.

Our family camped at the Jellystone and found it to be very nice, quiet, clean and well run. It is right next to the IB Camp Resort wich is a bit older and has a lot of seasonal campers. We found free parking close and convenient to the park at the bridge on the south end, the trams are nice too but you have to wait for them a bit.

We have camped there several times. A nice time of year is for 4th of JULY they put on a good fireworks display. If at all possible reserve the "B" area we stayed at the campsite andwas able to see firework without the tram ride to the amusement park. Will see everything from tents to RVs and the park models. Be aware of golf carts. In my opinion the "Z" spots was very tricky to get the BIG BOY (36 ft Tavel Trailer) into with a Dually.
Another side trip from Indy Beach is GREAT CATS OF INDIANA.

Was a little taken back by the prior reviewer seeing "white trash" on the Indiana Beach Boardwalk. You will see teens on their own but came with their families. You will see a wide assortment of sizes and cultures. Yet this can be and should be found at every tourist park in America. This is a family park. What you mostly see are families. Yes the park can look a little seedy because they do not paint or update the bathrooms. However, since I have been going to this park every year for 40 years, I can guarantee you that you will have a great time on the rides and at the small beach/water slide area. I have never felt that the rides are unsafe. They look a little old because they do not get painted but I am sure that they have to have safety checks in place to operate.
The food options are acutally better than at most parks. Their corn dogs are awesome. The Pronto Princess which is a ferryboat fast food place has great burgers, hot dogs and we love their fries. Their is a great taco stand with seating on the boardwalk. The Skyroom is a very nice restaurant on the 2nd floor that overlooks Lake Shafer. They have very good food and great prices.
I have been coming since I was a kid and my kids who are now 15 and 17 have been coming since they were babies. Even after visiting Holiday Park, and having an annual pass@Six Flags they still ask for a trip each year to the Indiana Beach Boardwalk.
My only compaint is that their lodging area up and down Shafer Drive needs to be bulldozed and rebuilt. If they did that we would stay for a week and really enjoy the lake area!

We visited and thought because they had hundreds of seats in their covered picnic shelters that we were welcome to use them. When we asked about them we were told that not only couldn't we use the shelters, but we couldnt picnic anywhere on the premisis, including our car (we didn't ask that it was offered). In addition we we told if we left the park we would have to repay admission and parking. I was apalled and asked to speak to the park manager. He offered no sympathy and seemed quite disinterested in my disatisfaction.

The food at the park was totally unappealing. We walked past one snack stand and were instantly nauseated by the smell of really old grease. No one seemed to be buying the park food. It seems amazing that you can't sell fried food to Hoosiers. It's what we like best.

The park is very small and doesn't begin to compete with the larger parks. It is completely unchanged since the 70's. It is a blast from the past from the entertainment standpoint to the old-school customer service.

If it weren' t for the terrible attitude of park management it would be worth an afternoon if you don't need to drive too far.

If you do go, eat before you get there.
