“Will return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

I've already been 3 times and really enjoy this place. Have had the fish, pork chops and wings. You can't beat their fish or the pork chops. Both are excellent. Wings were a disappointment. Service has been very good. Nice location on the river and only a few miles out of town. Try coming on a Thursday night after 7:00PM and see a live band. These 3 guys are excellent!

“Get the famous Fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

I have been coming here since I was a little girl. The place closed down and a few owners later, we are back to the great quality food I grew up with. The fish and house chips are my favorite. . Please not the chips are actual homemade chips not fries like in Europe. They are especially good dipped in ranch dressing and the waitress will be happy to bring you a side of ranch if you ask. They have a great lunch special at a reasonable price.

“One of Monticello's Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

As local residents this is where we go for a nice dinner out. Great views of the lake, good food with several specialties, some value menu meals under $10 that won't disappoint you, and good service.

“Great View and History Here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

I remember this place as a kid. In my memory this was a five star rating. Yet I have been here multiple times as an adult and feel it is very good. We love sitting outside on the deck during the warm weather. But in the cooler temps it is nice to sit next to the window and overlook the views of lake houses and water. Great bar with awesome opportunities to make friends. The food is very good. WE enjoy the fish and chips, the pork chops and even the steaks are good. Overall it is a good option for northwest Indiana. Monticello has several very good food options, maybe even exceeding Lafayette. Good option here...

“It would be my "local" if I lived in Monticello!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Every visit to relatives in Indiana involves a meal or two at the Sportsman Inn. Every time we are rewarded with friendly waitstaff, tasty meat, potato and veg in our preferred small portions (so we have room for desert). The wine is sourced locally and good. Sometimes there is live classic rock music in the bar next door that only adds to the experience. Next time I want to try the lakeside deck for a closer view of the water. You'll feel welcome here. I promise.
