Gorgeous accommodation, perfect views and Maureen & Brian were so friendly without being intrusive! Also helpful with their in depth knowledge of what might be of interest in the area. Choice of breakfast (personally prepared) extensive and top quality. Nothing too much trouble.

Plenty to do/see in the area, Queenstown not far away but little Arrowtown an absolute must visit - a variety of little shops and places to eat, a good pub and museum.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights earlier this month. What can I say that hasn't already been said in each of the previous reviews?

Location: Great views of Gibbston valley. 20-25 mins from Queenstown but even closer to the charming Arrowtown.

Room: Comfy, spacious and immaculate with a private patio looking out over Gibbston valley.

Service: Brian and Maureen couldn't have been more helpful, generous and hospitable. Pardon the cliché but they really did make us feel like we were staying with friends.

Food: Absolutely superb. Fresh and delicious with nearly everything being home-made. We made use of our free dinner with 3 nights stay but, honestly, I think we would have struggled to find better food anywhere else.

Overall highly recommended. Attention to detail here is probably the best we experienced whether it is the layout of the rooms, good lighting, spacing for cases or bags, the small selection of records available to play on your hifi or the fact that Maureen and Brian remember all your preferences. In summary, this is what they call a 'no-brainer' and if we are ever back on the South island there is no doubt we will be back here.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review of our stay here at Mt Rosa Lodge. You certainly fitted a lot into your stay with the Nevis Swing and Milford and exploring the region.A shame that you didnt manage the picnic up at Table Rock due to the short cold snap.Im sure you enjoyed the Arrowtown experience and the dinner at Amisfield.Thank you again for visiting us and we look forward to welcoming you back to the region someday

(from Kristen, on behalf of Kris and Mike)

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay with Maureen and Brian last week at their beautiful home after the hard rigours of the Milford track. I had carefully researched where to stay, and when we drove up the long drive past little Mt Rosa and the vines to the lodge, the mood was certainly set for a wonderful few days to come. We were not disappointed!
Maureen and Brian are warm, lovely people, and they do us a great service by opening up their stunning home and views of the Gibbston valley to us travellers. We stayed in the Mt Rosa suite, and the room was beautifully appointed and luxurious, with great views to the blossoming cherry trees and hillsides (some crowned with snow) down the valley. There was a cheeseboard with gluten-free crackers and relish to greet our arrival, which was a great treat for me, being gluten-intolerant. I must also recommend Brian's pinot noir, which my husband heartily approved of, and I agree!
For the three days we were there, Brian and Maureen took good care of us, and treated us to lovely (and filling!) breakfasts. Look out for Maureen's delicious yoghurt, and the good fare they serve up, including eggs, bacon, cereal and toast (including the best gluten-free bread I have ever had), and mushrooms. It will start your day very well indeed. Their knowledge of the region is also impeccable, and they have many tips about restaurants, wineries and the local area that will help in guiding you about where (and what) you want to do while you are staying in Queenstown. I must also mention that Maureen's dinners are divine, and my husband and I are still hotly talking about the incredible whitebait fritters that she served up on our last night there (please, Maureen, can I have the recipe...?) If only they were so readily available in Australia...
Staying at Mt Rosa Lodge is an amazing experience, and I can't talk highly enough of Maureen and Brian. I can't wait to come back and experience their lovely welcome again.

Thank you for your review of your visit to us at Mt Rosa Lodge.Really enjoyed our dinners together and the lively conversations we had. Hope the frost fighting in the vineyards which was happening during your stay gave an insight into life on a vineyard and all the things that go into the bottle before we can actually enjoy the wine.
We look forward to welcoming you back and hopefully with your family in the future and maybe in a different season to experience how different it can be.
Thank you both again for the memories.

This is one of those gems you come across in your travels that you nearly want to keep secret because you don't want too many people to know about it. However, it would be a disservice to fellow travellers to stay quiet on this one.

The location is breath taking, Brian and Maureen are so warm in their hospitality and every detail is beautiful. We spent the afternoon drenched in the sunshine surrounded by the gorgeous views, eating delicious foods, drinking amazing wines and honestly just felt like we were in the middle of no where. The amazing thing is though that you are still so close to town and the range of things to do while in the area. It's the perfect location.

We spent the evening by the fireplace, again enjoying a delicious drop and had such a great time. Every time of the day is stunning here with the landscape changing as the light changes. We were there in March but would love to go back in the Winter. I can imagine this place is beautiful any time of the year.

The place has such a character and is definitely one of those spots you wish you could never leave. We felt so relaxed and welcome here.

Have fun!

What an amazing spot! Lovely accommodation/rooms and stunning views out over the Gibbston Valley. Brian and Maureen are the perfect hosts and know the area so well. It's the ideal spot from which to explore the whole Queenstown & Wanaka area. We can't wait to go back and stay again!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are fabulous

A tip off from a work colleague alerted my husband and I to this little gem in the Gibbston. We were attending a wedding in Arrowtown and were after a relaxing but high quality place to stay for the weekend and this was just perfect. Our room was exactly how I like it - private, tasteful & luxurious, warm and spotlessly clean. The beauty of the Gibbston Valley is captured here, surrounded by the mountains and a gorgeous vineyard (that produces a fabulous drop) this really is paradise. There are also a number of wineries to visit in close proximity and our exceptional hosts Brian and Maureen helped us out with the best things to do in our limited time. An amazing couple who possess an endless amount of knowledge about wine and the surrounding district, natures rugged beauty at its best, incredible food and wine in a comfortable and welcoming setting. This is one of my most memorable getaways, I can't say enough for this Lodge, we
would highly recommend it to everyone and hope to return one day soon. Thank you Mt Rosa.

We had a 4 day stay with Brian and Maureen, the views of the colours of the vines in the early morning sunshine were superb. The location is exceptional looking west up the Gibbston Valley. Directions to the house were fine but you need to watch out for the small signs as you drive up through the vineyard as they are at ground level and we missed them first time. We had a complimentary room upgrade which was unexpected and much appreciated. The accommodation was excellent with underfloor heating and gas log fires making the room very snug and comfortable in the cold weather, as we had heavy frost every morning. We enjoyed a good meal and a chat around the log fire each evening with Brian and Maureen and enjoyed hearing about wine making from Brian. Highly recommended.
