“I would definately stay here again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

We loved this hotel! It keeps with the Notre Dame theme of the area, but with a tasteful design. The rooms are spacious and I even noticed that they were updating some during our stay. It's quiet and relaxing with a nice indoor/outdoor pool, jacuzzi, small exercise room with sauna, pool table, basketball net, reading area, outdoor seating, grills...you name, they have it. I thought the bed was extremely comfortable with good sheets. Our room also offered a kitchenette, pull-out sofa, 2 flat screen tv's and a large jacuzzi tub that fit two. We stayed for a week and the entire staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The resort is in a good area and whether you want to shop, eat or have a few cocktails...everything is nearby. This is also an ideal location if you want to travel in Michigan or to Chicago. If I had anything negative to say, the maid staff could do a little better job on the cleaning but it wasn't terrible.

Room Tip: Room 308 is the best one. It has a large balcony that faces the main road but yet it's quiet and...

We decided to try VSA because it was one of our Diamond resort destinations close enough to travel to by car. We are so glad we decided to try it. It was a lovely place. Very clean. We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe unit and it had everything we needed. We took advantage of the kitchen and made many of our meals instead of eating out. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. They knew plenty about the area to make good suggestions for family fun. Mishiwaka has several lovely parks, many with splash pads that our daughters love. Also, we were quite close to Middlebury and it's famous Das Dutchman Essenhaus. Not to mention, visiting the Amish country is a special opportunity in this busy world of ours. We were very happy with our stay and will return again.

This hotel should be renamed "Old Stinky Party Hotel". The night we stayed there was a very loud party going on in the hotel lobby which is just a few feet away from the 1st floor hotel rooms. So needless to say we didn't get to sleep till past 1am when the party was finally over. The noise was so loud, it was like they were right outside of our hotel room! Why didn't they put all the party people on the 1st floor and families in the rooms on the upper floor? In addition to the loud party, the rooms smelled terrible! Ours was a "pet friendly" room which we did not request since we have no pets and the smell was horrible - urine, stale, moldy smells emanated from everywhere. We complained to the front desk and they said that unless we request a "Non-pet friendly" room or "Non-Smoking" room they will stick people in those rooms. So if you must stay here, make sure you request are made clear up front!

The only positive is the beds and pillows were comfortable.

I will NEVER stay at a Varsity Clubs hotel again and would NOT recommend to anyone with children!

Room Tip: Ask for non-smoking, non pet friendly, not 1st flr

Dear Valued Guest,
My deepest apologies for your uncomfortable stay. This is certainly not how we would like to be remembered. Every guests comfort is extremely important to our entire company. The Varsity Clubs, as part of Diamond Resorts International, has gone through many changes & renovations in the last year with the new ownership. We are no longer pet friendly and all of our suites have new carpet, new bedding, new linens, 2 flat screens TV's, & brand new Cuisinart appliances in the kitchenettes. I would like to encourage you to give us another try. Please contact me in the sales office, and I will personally make sure you are well taken care of.
Thank you for this opportunity. All guest responses help us grow and make the Varsity Clubs a better place for our future guests to visit.
Sincerely,
Anne

Stayed in double room suite; very large rooms with king size beds; separate living and kitchenette; two baths (great for family); three tv's; everything you'd need. The rooms are very 1980's, but clean and comfortable. It's not run like a typical hotel - no real guest services. Not than anyone was rude - just not really helpful either. Lost our reservation, but did correct it; no bartender to request a drink; no information provided on services; etc. Nonetheless, it was a great value and will definitely stay there again.

We recently reserved a large block of rooms at the Varsity Club in Mishawaka for a Notre Dame wedding. Needless to say, everything turned out wonderful. The hotel was a great experience for those from out of town with all its Notre Dame memorabilia. They were also very accommodating for our group - the fresh, hot breakfasts every morning were great, they gave us access to the members lounge / pool table area every night and also let us take some wedding pictures at the hotel. We stayed in the Alumni House, which is very nice. The other suites are also very nicely finished. I will look to stay there during future trips to South Bend.

I don't think I could have anything negative to say about our stay. The room was large, clean and comfortable. This was the first time I had stayed in a hotel where the shower water didn't come out as a trickle! What a surprise. Didn't really need the kitchen area but it was nice that it was there. Maybe if we had spent more time in the room it would have been needed. Always a "HELLO" when we returned from ND's campus. We were moving my Freshman son into his dorm. We drove a pick up truck from Buffalo, New York. The truck was loaded with all of my son's belongings for his new dorm room. Needless to say, I was a little concerned about theft. We were given the reserved parking spot right in front of the front doors. Really? That was definately going above and beyond. Loved the ND decor!! Couldn't get enough. Everyone of the girls/women working there was wonderful, courteous, friendly... I am staying there again in October and probably more! Thanks for a lovely visit.

We were just in town for one night but if this night was an indication of this property I cannot say enough good things.

Location is great. Suite was very nice with comfy bed and after a long day of driving there I enjoyed a nice soak in the jaquazzi tub.

We ordered food through their delivery service with local restuarants. There is a small kitchen complete with utensals, microwave and electric skillet.

Julia was at the front desk when we checked in and she could not have been more helpful or pleasant. Later when I needed something printed from my flash drive I handed it to her and she got it done for me.

The lobby has a big and open feel and even though I personally cannot stand Notre Dame sports, it made for a nice theme.

I would highly recomend this for short or longer stays.
