“Nasty Food and Room in a Prefab house”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2005

Planned on staying here two nights. Ended up staying only one night and left (paid for two though because I couldn't get out of it). Food in the restaurant is beyond bad unless you like gravy 'n' taters carbo loading from a steam table. We got stuck out in the back 40 in a prefab house obviously produced in one of the local factories--felt like a firetrap and the doors are so thin--you don't feel safe!. Not a quaint place at all. Room was plain with cheap fixtures. Prefab, prefab, prefab. Quilts on the beds represented as "local made" were obviously made in China & cheap. There were disgusting spots on the walls.

The whole experience was misrepresented from the begining. Many other B&B places locally to stay other than here. We travel 250,000 air miles a year, we have some experience! This place needs a new owner that cares and will start by firing the staff and starting from scratch!

Sounds cold blooded but it's the truth

Not sure who this guest was, but their comments do no reflect the experiences of our guests. We serve hundreds in our restaurant each month. Many are locals. Others come from all over the country.
They come for the Buttermilk Pecan Chicken, Escalloped Pineapple, Soup and Salad Bar, Pot Roast, Homemade Mashed Potatoes, Vegetables from our own garden, Trout Amandine. Salmon, Homemade award-winning pies and the quaint country ambiance overlooking our 18 acres.
The home they stayed in was custom built in 1992 by one of the finest Amish/Mennonite Contractors in the region. It has separate guest quarters in the 3500 square foot house. Each room has extra sound proofing and an authentic hand made Amish Quilt matching the decor of the room. You can view the rooms on our web site, some with virtual tours.
We guarantee you will have a wonderful experience at the Patchwork Quilt, whether you stay here or just dine here. We will refund your money if you aren't satisfied.

“Rude and obnoxious”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2004

This inn advertised a "full farmer's breakfast buffet", including "fench toast, pancakes, baked oatmeal", etc., yet had NONE of that. All they had were sweet rolls/breads and gloppy baked eggs. We filled out the comment card and mentioned this, dropping the card off when checking out. The owner actually chased us out of the inn, repeating "What more would you want?", right when we were standing in front of the sign (outside the entrance) which actually LISTED the supposed items on the buffet. Why do they ask for comments, then whine at you when you make a comment? There was no source for drinks at night (no water or sodas), there was no phone line. Our room was supposed to look out over flower gardens, when there was nary a flower in sight. The "activity" room consisted of a broken ping-pong table, a poorly assembled pool table, broken workout equipment, and a karoake machine. I've stayed at $30 interstate motels which were better than this place.

The breakfast that day had fruit slush(a local favorite), mixed fruit. 5 juices, milk, egg casserole, baked french toast, homemade cinnamon rolls, 3 homemade coffee cakes, homemade bread for toast, homemade granola, other cereal, homemade apple butter, homemade Amish peanut butter, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Therefore, we were incredulous when we read the comment that we were serving a continental breakfast. When we questioned the guest about what she had expected, she was obviously annoyed. Not sure what else we could have done for her. Our other guests raved about the breakfast that day as they always do.
She made other comments about the lack of cable TV, no phones in rooms, etc, which indicated to us that she was not really a B&B person.

“Home Away from Home”

We have stayed at the Patchwork many times. It was the first bed and breakfast for us and will continue to be special. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. What makes this Inn special is the staff (they treat you like family!) Breakfast Buffet is delicious and bountiful with many Amish cooks in the kitchen and those wonderful Amish dishes (try the Baked Oatmeal). The dinner buffet is outstanding as well. Again the Amish influence is present in all the tasty dishes.
One thing you must do is book a "Backroads Tour" through the Inn. You will visit many Amish home shops and see Amish schools and homes that you would never find on your own. The guides give you interesting stories and facts about this way of life. This is an experience you should not miss!
