The Hotel rooms may be great but unfortunately we were stuck in BFE in a something they call a condo. This is unlike any Condo I have ever been in. The smells from the other units were unbearable, no room to move around and the kitchen was completely unuseable, no ice, no microwave and no pots and pans. They boast about going green. I guess not sweeping up the hairs from the bathroom floors was creating some kind of insulation. The "free" breakfast.....wow. A crock pot full of gravy I think and they forgot to turn it on so it was cold. Frozen things they called eggs and bacon all of which you had to stand inline to get to the one and only microwave to warm it up your self. The only positive thing I can say about this location is they had a fantastic web designer.

NIce hotel. Like having friends with a place on the river. We had a large suite on the upper level with a King bed and a day bed with a pop up for the little ones. The king bed mattress was heavenly and the high thread count linens were very nice as well. The bathroom was very clean as was the unit itself. The small stand for the coffee maker had seen better days and the small refrigerator did not seem to work very well. They had a piano player/singer in the bar on Saturday night, cold beer and plenty of locals hanging out in the bar. Breakfast on Sunday was good but nothing to write home about. Biscuits and gravy, frozen omeletts that you microwaved, bacon, cheerios, milk, juice, coffee, toast. The staff was very helpful. I do think it is a little high priced and could use some updates throughout but it was still a pleasant stay. We will go back.

My sister and brother in law, had booked the riverboat inn, because of the vicinity of the river view, and close proximity to the art festival on the weekend of 26th and 27th of sept. 2009.

You drive past the hotel, and look up, and the place is breathtaking with beautiful landscaping, alot of outside areas for entertainment. They have recently renovated the front part of the hotel, and we viewed several of those rooms for future stays, because you have to book almost a year ahead for a major event such as the art festival.the new renovated rooms are beautiful.

Because of the art festival, the only thing that was availble was a room in the back of the main hotel. it was a large room, that they had fixed up a little, but has not been renovated yet, it was very spacious, with 2 beds, one queen, and 1 full. this room has a lot of potential, they have already put a wood floor down, , and a beautiful fireplace and flat screen tv in the corner. the room is very spacious, but the decor needs to be rearranged some, first of all, the area rug , needs to be larger, then I would have 1 bed in one area, with possibly a settee area with chair or love seat and the other bed in another area with maybe the same , like a chair next to it, also a dresser would be a nice added bonus. it just needs to be spruced up, the lighting on the celing needs to be changed out, with one of the ceiling tiles , needing to be replaced. this particular room, is on the slate to be renovated, and like i said it will be beautiful, if the right touches are added. there is a large kitchen area, with a full size kitchen, which is very nice, but the ceiling needs to be fixed, and the floor needs to be changed out. , the bathroom, needs to have a toilet, that an adult can use. it was very small, and needs to be changed to a larger taller commode. like I say, this room needs to have some modern touches and renovation, and they could make it into a beautifull suite. but we were quite comfortable, and was able to go up front and enjoy the enterainment, and play cards on the beautiful deck downstairs, and upstairs . the view of the river and the bridge is breathtaking. we enjoyed their entertainment, and even was able to dance.

The staff is very friendly, and the owner, made us feel right at home. the breakfast is good, but they needs to find a different source for their selection on the eggs. sausage gravy is good.

We have already booked a room in the front for next year, and we are trying to get the beautifull honeymoon suite they have in the front, for when we get married.

All in all,Our stay was very enjoyable, and the trip to madison was wonderful. . This Hotel is growing ,and they are working very hard to make everything alot better than they found this place in 2007, when they bought it., I think they have came a long way, and I commend them for what they have done, so far. it was so much better than staying in a holiday in, and for a matter of fact, one of the guests, had made a reservation at the holiday in, and refused to stay there because it was so dirty, and she was lucky it get a room here, because of a last minute cancellation, because of the threat of rain on the weekend for the festival.

I would recommend the riverboat inn to anyone, that is staying in madison, indiana, the whole city shines, with its historiacal ambiance, and endless shops, to shop at your hearts content, or just relax , and walk on the river walk ,and watch the river , and all the boats that travel up and down, including barges, to speed boats.

Please give the Riverboat Inn , a try, the next time you are in beautiful Madison Indiana, I assure you, you will not be disapponted.

On a visit to historic Madison, IN we stayed overnight at the Riverboat Inn. We couldn't have made a better choice. The room we stayed in was not large, but since our objective was sightseeing, we didn't plan on being in it any length of time. However, it was very comfortable with everything updated. It was our understanding that the previous owner had let it fall in disrepair. You couldn't tell that now. The owner and her son have done major remodeling and upgrading to the room. And, the large porch? They have it stocked with comfortable chairs and lounges to enjoy the fantastic view. And, if you want to sip a drink while soaking it all in, they have a stocked bar too!

My husband and I shared a room with our friends on Saturday evening after attending
the Madison Ribberfest. The room was very comfortable and clean. The back porch
runs along the whole building and there were plenty of tables and chairs for all guests
to view the river and drink coffee the next morning! I will come back.
