My husband and I got this as a gift from my daughters. We thought this would be nice as we had never stayed in a B & B. Well the first thing we got when we arrived was, please do not walk on the carpet with your shoes. Ok I understand it is her house. Next was we owed the tax on the room and she did not accept credit cards but mentioned it 3 times before we left for dinner. The next morning, my husband got up early and the owner was up and he said oh good fresh coffee. Well he was told it would not be started until 8:30 for the other guests and he could have instant. really instant coffee?? Then when we all sat down to eat breakfast, the owner stood in the room as we were all getting aquainted. Then we were told it was her right to say grace before we ate. We do not oppose to this practice, but what if someone did? As a business owner wouldn't they think about others beliefs? Breakfast was so so. When we got ready to leave she informed us that she would be leaving around 11:30 and the house would be locked so no one could get in until she returned. All this time she was promoting other businesses in the area. Would like to comment about the room. We stay in the garden room because it was on the ground floor and I am a smoker and we both get up early. Don't forget to lock the door we were told multiple times.
The room had no TV which we expected but no ceiling fan??? She did not turn on the air conditioner until she got up. We were so darn hot we could not sleep. We wanted to leave early but since our daughters paid 320 for 2 night we sucked it up. The shower and toilet were in a make shift closet. No vents at all. Which made our room even hotter. Oh the lock on the door was a slide lock from back in the 20's. Lots of clutter in the room. Not very big. So on the day of our departure, my husband said we were leaving early and not staying for breakfast. He had had enough. I convinced him to tell the owner and she said " you should tell the host the night before!" and he said but I am the guest. Then she followed him out side and said if it was the other guest she would have a talk with them. He said it was her. Needless to say we will never stay there again. I just feel bad the our daughters paid so much money for that place.
Now about Madison, we had a wonderful time at the wineries and at the lighthouse bar on the river. We will be going back to Madison, just not staying there.
