“My third stay here, great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I travel to Lafayette for business frequently and I have stayed here in April 2012 (3 weeks), August 2012 (2 weeks) and most recently in January 2013 (2 weeks). This is an extended stay hotel and is located right off I-65 and it's about a 15-20 minute drive to Purdue university. The front desk staff is always helpful and friendly. All the rooms I've stayed in were clean with a queen sized bed, desk, chair, dresser, and a flat screen TV. Each room also has a kitchenette with a microwave, two burner stove, full-sized refrigerator, and a dishwasher. It is also stocked with pans, dishes, silverware, and utensils. Housekeeping comes once per week and if you need fresh towels in between, you can get them at the front desk. The hotel also has a 24/7 free laundry room and fitness center. There is a 24-hour Meijer store located near the hotel where you can buy groceries to bring back to your room. There are also several restaurants and stores near the hotel as well. The only downside to this hotel is on one side the constant hums of cars and semis going down the interstate which runs right next to the hotel. I usually get used to it after a few days though.

I would definitely recommend this place to someone who needs an extended stay hotel in Lafayette.

Room Tip: Rooms on the West (non-highway) side are quieter.

Dear Cleveland926,

We are thrilled that you have chosen to spend your time with us while on business in the Lafayette area. We know you have many choices as to where to stay in the area and are delighted that you have given us the opportunity to make your time away from home as comfortable as possible whenever you are in town.

Thank you for outlining a few of the features of our property for those who have not had the chance to experience it for themselves yet. The kitchens in our rooms make it easier not only for our extended stay guests but also families passing through. The nearby Meijer store you mentioned is about as convenient as you can get for groceries or other necessities. Our staff is always happy to recommend places based on guests needs as well.

We are honored to have been able to consistently provide you with clean and frinedly stay at our property. We look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to the area.

Sincerely,
Christin G.

When visiting family in the area, we stay here. Friendly staff. Clean always. Pool usually warm. Dog friendly. Right off the interstate and near restaurants and grocery store. We enjoy the Lafayette area.

“7 Weeks of Stay”

CANDLEWOOD SUITES ( LAFAYETTE INDIANA ) - The comforter as well as the inner blanket is NOT washed every three months and somewhat of a challenge to have them done, Don't ask for an extra spoon because there is none, Lots of stains on the carpets throughout the new building, The printer in the business office never has toner and you have to ask for permission to go behind the counter to print and that privilege isn't granted to everyone, The management caters to over nights, They DO NOT pad priority club points in anyway, They don't provide club members with any special gifts or services, There is NO sense of Honor to loyal guests, They don't provide gatherings for extended stay guest, The grill looks like it has never been cleaned, The fence behind the grill has been on fire and never replaced, The grill area appears to have never been washed with lots of residue for the flies to feed, The pool water is milky green, Lots of trouble with lighting in the parking lot and makes it hard to feel secure about your tools, Evidently the Cupboard was once home to a band of thieves and it's obvious by staff when purchasing, The trash cans at the end of halls on every floor are rarely emptied, The owner's wife bleaches all the red, brown and yellow human stains (hazardous waste) out of the towels and returns them to the room ( You will be reluctant to shower if you hold the towel to the light ) , Hotel staff shares personal information about guests with other guests, Carpet in rooms are slimy (don't go barefoot), There can be uninvited entries to your room by staff other than the cleaning service and THE LIST GOES ON !!!

Dear reportthetruth,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. Your feedback is very important to us and we do appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we are doing.

I am very sorry to hear that your stay with us was less than satisfactory. We take great pride in our property and I am sorry that you did not feel that way as our guest. As an extended stay property, we are very concerned with making all of our guests as comfortable as possible during their time away from home. We value the loyalty of our priority club members and recognize all priority club members upon check in with our priority club prize wheel. We are also very focused on cleanliness as well as the upkeep of our property and adhere to all brand standards set forth by IHG. Privacy of our guests during their stay is of our utmost concern and something that our staff does not take lightly.

Again, I do thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your recent stay with us. We hope that this experience will not affect your decision to stay with Candlewood Suites in the future and do value your business.

Sincerely,
Christin G.

“Brown Bathtub Water”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Stayed for one night in August. The hotel seems new, so everything was still clean and in good shape. However, the air conditioner rattled loudly everytime it turned on, so it woke my wife and I about every 20-30 minutes all night long. In the morning, my wife took a shower with no problems, but when I turned on the shower facuet, the water came out brown. Thinking there might be dirt in the pipes, I let the water run for about 15 minutes hoping to clean out the dirt, but the water continued to flow out brown. I was unable to take a shower, I couldn't even rinse the dirty water out of the tub because there was so much dirt residue coming from the facuet. At checkout, I complained to the representative at the front desk who said she would pass along my concerns to the manager. At least two other guest were also complaining about the same problem. After a few weeks, I submitted an online complaint through the Priority Club web site since I hadn't heard anything yet. Finally, I did receive an email from the manager apologizing for the problem and explaining that the water softener had run out of salt. Sorry, but I don't believe that excuse. Hard water is not brown and does not contain dirt particles. Nonetheless, I didn't receive a discount or even an offer of Priority Club points for the inconvenience. We won't be staying there again.

Dear DaytonTravelers,

I am terribly sorry to hear of the experience you encountered while at our property. It is our goal to provide every guest with the best stay possible and I am sorry that you did not leave here feeling as though you had experienced that with us.

I apologize that the noise from the air conditioner made sleeping in your room difficult. I understand how difficult it can be to sleep when away from home and extra noises certainly do not help in the matter. As for the water, we have implemented a new check to ensure that our softener does not run out of salt again.

I am certainly sorry to hear of the impact that these issues had on the quality of your stay with us and hope that you will be able to give us another chance the next time you are in Lafayette.

Sincerely,
Christin G.

“Seems like a great place for extended stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I stayed here for two nights. Seems like the rooms are set up for extended stay. There is a full size refrigerator, microwave, hot plates and all necessary pot & pans in the room. Only drawback is that the housekeeping only visits once a week so you have to make up your own bed and hang the towels to dry. They do offer additional towels if needed.

There is also a AC in the room that you can control. This is a big plus for me as I like my room cooler than normal.

Getting into the hotel can be a little tricky. The nearby roads are quite new and may now show up on older GPS units.
