“Great Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Food was great and service was good. Was a little cramped and better make reservations well in advance or you won't get a seat.

“Fantastic and Gluten Free options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Found this lovely little Italian place, for my Birthday. My husband has celiacs, my son is vegetarian and La Scala did not only "accomodate" us, the menu was set up for those with these needs. The food was delicious, so many things to order, I could eat and eat

Hubby loved his veal dish, kid loved his risotto I had some shrimp and angel hair past...delish and I am a critical person

Food was reasonable in price for the homemade quality, service was good, ambiance and service are not 5 star, no fine set tables or servers in tuxedos, its a bit laid back more of a home run place

The menu and and food sure are 5 star - I have paid ton more for much less

We sat looking over the beautiful historic Lafayette City Hall, server was a nice kid, can't complain. Wine was great as well, and the server brought me 2 samples so I could make a good decision

Desert was to die for

Overall I was thrilled to have great Italian (the real stuff; not pizza or Olive Garden) food in Lafayette, Indiana.

Seriously, there are the big chains, and a few other small places but not much and not many that cater to gluten free and or vegetarian. More meat and potato places, here in Indiana.

Highly recommend.

“Best Italian Food I've Ever Had! (unless I were to go to Italy and have homemade of course)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

My fiance and I (we actually got engaged the same day we went here) went to La Scala for an evening dinner after a wonderful day (which was also my birthday) The service was friendly and excellent, the food was amazing, and despite it being a relatively small space, it had a great environment. They definitely give you your money's worth. (which is good since most meals cost 18 to 20 dollars) They make sure you leave feeling satisfied and full! (you can fill up on delicious fresh baked bread so you're guaranteed to have leftovers)

“Mediocre after all these years”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

It's been several years since my last visit to La Scala, and I've heard good things about their sourcing meat and vegetables locally, so I was enthusiastic to go there for dinner. I met three friends for a late dinner on a Thursday, all of us middle aged women. I hate to think that that's why, but the service was bad: it took our server forever to notice us and seat us, then to come ask us what we wanted, then he forgot to bring the appetizer we ordered, was 5 minutes slow to show up with the grated Parmesan and pepper routine for our pasta dishes, and a bit condescending as a sommelier. He made me feel like we simply weren't on his radar. The food was much the same as what I recalled eating at La Scala in the past: abundant, gooey, unctious, with sauces oriented around cream and butter (my ravioli Florentine simply wasn't very good). The Caesar salad wasn't even average in quality--it was a green salad, not the classic presentation or anywhere close. For my taste and dining dollar, I won't come again anytime soon, nor recommend it to friends.

“good farm fresh food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Unlike the other Italian processed food restaurants, they use farm fresh food, and you can taste the difference. they have the best chicken and rice soup ever as odd as that sounds. Tried lots of things on the menu and never had a bad dish.
