“such a treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

This is my first time in Mexico and my husband and friends take me to Manta Raya, away from anything expected! We loved the home style cooking. I am vegetarian, and Reto handled that so well. He cooked up scrumptious food for each meal. The rooms are spacious and feel cozy at the same time. The staff are friendly and welcoming. More than anything, the location of the hotel makes it a true private getaway.

Hotel Manta Raya is located on a beautiful beach of the Oaxaca coast, between Huatulco and Puerto Angel. The hotel is brand new. Rooms are spacious, well decorated and enjoy a gorgeous view on the Pacific Ocean. Manta Raya is definitively the perfect option for those who want to relax on a deserted beach surrounded by jungle while enjoying the comfort of a 5 stars hotel (10 rooms only).
Reto, the manager will make you feel at home. Meals are outstanding and if you like seafood you will be more than happy. Highly recommended.

We came from Germany to Mexico to visit our son who works in Puebla for a German company. We took a journey from Puebla to the West Coast to Huatulco. From there we continued to Salchi where we checked into the Manta Raya Hotel, located directly at the Pacific Ocean. The hotel is situated in a beautiful bay, away from the tourist areas with all its noises, but alongside a wellkept group of vacation houses. It only takes a few minutes by car to reach the shops at Huatulco.
The hotel was newly built by Swiss investors, who manage it now. They also prepare the most exquisit food which is available throughuot the day.
The rooms are well taken care of and tastefully decorated with all comforts we could have wished for during our stay at the Pacific Coast. We had rented an appartement on the top floor. It had all amnesities including refridgerator, microwave, coffee machine and all dishes we needed.
The view from the large balcony into the dream-like beauty of the sandy bay was spectacular, especially in the evening during sunset.
The hotel features its own swimming pool in a tastefully landscaped garden. There are showers, toilets and comfortable beach chairs and beds with sunshades available for everyone who likes to swim in the ocean, which is just steps away from the hotel.
There is a graet variety of gastronomical choices and great quality of the menues offered. The staff is courteous and very nice so that we felt like being taken care by family.
We would like to return to this beautiful place and can only highly recommend the hotel to our friends.

Traveling around Mexico my boyfriend and I stayed a few nights at Manta Raya. A friend from Mexico told us about this wonderful new hotel right on the beach.
Rooms are clean, very spacious and uniquely designed. All of them have balconies facing the ocean with hammocks. The view from the room is just spectacular! Every morning I lay in bed watching the sunrise over the ocean.
The beach is indeed only a few steps from the hotel. And except for a few villagers you have it for yourself. If waves are too strong you can jump into the refreshing and clean hotel pool. I enjoyed the days reading on the balcony, lying on the beach, dipping in the ocean, swimming in the pool, talking to people and drinking cocktails from the bar. Paradise… :-)
The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. You feel home and part of the family.
The restaurant serves delicious food. Breakfast comes with fresh seasonal fruit juice, homemade jam and excellent coffee. For dinner you can choose from the menu card or take the daily special, which was always delicious.
I really recommend this hotel. It`s just amazing!!!
We had a great time there and are planning to return some day.
Thank you very much Manta Raya!

I enjoyed very much the food which has some kind of oriental touch. I loved every tiny bite of it.
At night I left the doors to the balkony open and could listen to the ocean waves - dont worry the mosquito slides prevent the entrance of any kind of unwanted little animals..
Service and hospitality coulnt be better. Anna was just a great host and made me feel home from the first moment.
You wake up, dive into the ocean, dry in the morning sun and enjoy a great breafast with lots of fruit and some huevos rancheros...
What else you desire after a trip on the mexican highways!!

Recently stayed for 2 nights in room #4. Spectacular view of the ocean from the hammock and chairs on the balcony. Palapas on the beach made for excellent reading or resting spot. The pool was spotless and inviting on the day when waves were strong in the ocean. Other days the ocean was perfect for swimming and the tide pools wonderful for fish and crab viewing. Did not snorkel due to forgotten gear but expect it would be great near the rocks. The room was lovely, bed was comfortable and bathroom was uniquely designed with a round shower. Lots of natural light and cross ventilation in the room. Wifi never failed. Toiletries from Masunte. The food was a real treat. We ate sashimi, ceviche, tuna steaks, shrimp risotto, amazing desserts, omelettes, fruit plates and great breads. Nothing was a disappointment...in fact would say this is the best food we have eaten in the vicinity and all was reasonably priced. Bar was fully stocked and Wednesday features Happy Hour from 5-7PM. We plan to return to this lovely boutique hotel next year and will stay for a week rather than just 2 nights.

Room Tip: All rooms have balconies and face the ocean.
