“Great resort, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2010

From the moment we arrived Jubin and his team took good care of us. We brought a microwave along. We were having difficult getting the microwave to work. Jubin and team helped us in every way. Welcome drink was great (nimbo paani). For dinner my favorite fish curry was made and also we were awaken early morning to show us the fish caught from the lake.

In the evening we were shown the Wayanad sunset from a nice point. Was a nice experience. This resort is situated close to the hills and also a lake. Thus making the views breathtaking.

Overall we had a great experience and would return anytime.

We had not planned to stay here, but confusion at our Kalpetta hotel led us to stay for one night. Jubin Roy, the manager, very kindly collected us and transferred us to the resort free of charge. We were given great service on our arrival, the food was plentiful and good, the room was comfortable if a little over-priced, and the beautiful views were much appreciated.
from the perspective of foreign tourists you may find that without transport the resort is quite remote, but on the plus side this is balanced by the peace and solitude. Many thanks Jubin and staff.

Our trip to Wayanad would not have been complete, if we would have missed to stay in Kallat Heritage. It is located amidst thick greenary and on the shores of a River/Dam. We visited Sunset valley near the Heritage and it was an amazing scene. We would also like to thank Jubin Roy (Incharge of the Heritage) for his wonderful company with us during our stay. He and his staff made our stay comfortable and pleasant.

We would love to revisit the place again :)

It was totally unplanned for us to stay at Kallat Heritage, but that would be a decision i will never regret. The reservation i had done was not available due to technical reason at the last moment and i called Jubin while i was driving from Calicut to Wayanad. Right from that moment, Jubin made sure our two days in Wayanad was as wonderful as it could get. the Hospitality of the place needs special mention, apart from the unique theme in which the place is setup. The wooden cottages were furnished superbly, though the size of one of the cottage was average. But we wud never complain as the rest of it made up for this. The food was the best i've ever had from a resort and it was served in a neat and well maintained open air restaurant. Hats off to Jubin and his staff for providing absolute privacy and in the same time making sure all our needs are met. I still wonder how he managed to do both. Also, i liked the proactive help Jubin offered as a guide (over phone) through out our drive in Wayanad.

In short, a great place to spend a weekend with family.

On the edge of a lake with mountains in the background this authentic heritage site is worth condsidering. It is a few kilometres from town but if you want a peaceful setting in traditional Kerala cottages overlooking a great lake then this could be for you.
You can use an ancient coracle to row over to the islands. The food is good and the service is excellent. We spent two days here courtesy of Jubin Roy and his team and they were "at our disposal" - we also visited a wildlife area, the historic Edakkal caves and a waterfall.
The cottages are basic but comfortable and on stilts to give a better view.

Two thing that stands out about Kallat is the close proximity to nature and an extremely courteous staff. Overlooking the rooms is a large stream of water body, and if you have only heard of backwaters of Kerala, and not experienced it closely - this is the place.

The place is slightly in the interiors, but that would hardly matter since one would be looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city.

The rooms are slightly smaller than one would expect, with just enough space for a double bed, however the bamboo balcony, the machan experience, sounds of chirruping birds, the option to do fishing, and if nothing else just sit and relax and listen to the innumerable sounds of nature, sipping on a hot coffee more than make up for the small room.

Staff is very courteous, and would try their best to comfort you. The food served is fresh farm chicken and freshly caught fish - what more would you want if you are a non vegetarian, however options are limited for vegetarians. Also being in interiors one is constrained to eat there, as the nearest good restaurant is like 12 km.
