A great town to stay in. I've stayed their twice in the downtown area. Has a good museum downtown, nice little river park, a lot of great places to eat. Very easy to walk around has a second floor indoor walkway connecting many stores, restaurants and arena if the weather is bad. The 500 is not too far from downtown and has a good museum and tour.

The two weeks I spent in "Indy" seem to have flashed by. As a stranger to American shores, I had half an idea of what to expect. I found the Hoosier people to be friendly without exception, always glad to help or point you in the direction of someone who can help you better. I travelled early in the year, so some of the regular tourist attractions were not yet open for the season. I'm going to make sure I return at a more reasonable date next year... And for UK visitors, the wealth and variety of shopping will leave you breathless! The prices of goods are especially attractive given the current US-UK exchange rate. All in all, a fun time in a very pleasant city. Recomended!

Indianapolis is one of the most overrated cities in the country. A mall and a bunch of chain restaurants open up downtown and suddenly Indianapolis is cosmopolitan? What gives? "Broad Ripple" is a joke as well. Most cities have several neighborhoods like it, with much more to do. Plus the arts seem invisible. I would say I was disappointed, but this is exactly what I expected out of a visit to Indianapolis.
