Like the last reviewer, I wanted to like this place. I had heard about it being one of the new places on Indy's downtown scene, and since my husband likes craft beers it had a lot going in it's favor. The website is nice and makes the food look enticing, as does the big chalkboard menu upon arrival.
We went early on a Friday evening, around 5:30. Took our kids knowing that they cannot sit in the bar, but only in the larder area. First problem: only 3 tables in the larder area, all full upon arrival, only one of them had a child with them! So, the manager brought out a plastic table for us to sit at. We waited for a server but none arrived. Finally the bartender came over to take a drink order but said there were no menus available. No problem...we just looked at the chalkboard menu and walked up to register to place the order ourselves.
Took not too long for our food, but when our sandwiches came out it looked like they had forgotten to put anything on them! In my opinion for $8.50 (sandwich only) it should be somewhat substantial. I ordered the Tonya Harding and it literally had one slice each of turkey, roast beef, ham and cheese. One tomato slice per half of sandwich and a little shredded lettuce. NOT GOOD.
The other bad thing: the system for food delivery is inefficient and awful! We were sitting by the small counter where they place the food once it's ready for server to pick up. They would yell out the servers name, although there is no way at all they could hear their name in the next room or over the noise. Baskets of food stacked up, sometimes 12 at a time! Servers would come along and start picking every basket up to see if it was theirs then put it back down. I saw more servers bring things back that were incorrect than they were able to deliver. My suggestion: they should have one or two people to deliver food only when it comes up like other restaurants do!!!
Apart from this, it might be an entirely different experience if you just wanted to stop by to have a few beers. The décor was cool, and it does look like it would be fun. Just DON"T order any food and leave your kids at home.
