“German Restaurant is worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2012

The Edelweiss is a German/American restaurant located at the German-American Klub on S. Meridian in Indianapolis. The restaurant is open to the public. GAK members receive a food discount. The German food is wonderful and there are few German options in Indianapolis. Access to the restaurant includes stairs but it may be accessible by another restaurant-level entrance to the rear. The space is small and intimate. The chef will make the rounds to welcome guets. Entertainment (harp, classical guitar, etc.) is offered occasionally. They also have an American menu. The bar is located in the main dining area.

“Busy with locals”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2012

Stopped by here in late afternoon and enjoyed a beer and fresh hot pretzel on their patio. Upon leaving an hour later their restaurant had filled up.

“Great find for German food in Indianapolis !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2011

What a nice surprize this German restaurant in Indianapolis turned out to be for my wife and I. We have been seeking out German food for over 35 years and this place will not disappoint you. Service was great and the food was some of the better German food we have had in America. We started out with the house soup. This was a hardy beef base soup with a super flavor. We had to try the veal classic Wiener Schnitzel. We will have trouble picking anything else on our next visit . It was cooked to perfection ! The spaetzle just needed a touch of salt to bring a smile to your face. We both tried the bread pudding with whiskey sauce for dessert. The dessert is reason enough to give this place a try. After dinner the chief sat down and talked to us for about 15 minutes about how he arrived at some of his dishes. Give this place a try for a great meal ...

“well prepared food without the downtown prices”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2011

The short drive to the south side of Indy will yield a reward,Edelweiss Restaurant, part of the German American Klub.Chef Ron has a lunch and dinner menu, including a Wednesday dinner buffet that makes the short drive worth the effort.During the warm weather, meals enjoyed in the Biergarten assures a garten, not a view of your car in the lot as you dine.Very good meals without having to pay for parking or the high prices of downtown restaurants.Enjoy!.

“New Chef (obviously)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2010

With Chef Ron back in the kitchen and also running the restaurant, Edelweiss seems to have returned to its glory from years ago. The German specials are fantastic. They are even running a german potato salad contest with different recipes featured each month. But, I like the steaks as well as my German favorite, the smoked porked chops. We love the Wednesday buffet with the changing menu and new German foods to try as well as the American foods we love. I know the price was less than $10 per person and well worth it.

Welcome back, Chef Ron. We missed you.
