I love coming here in the summer to sit outdoors. The service has always been fine for us. There is a small bar area where you can wait for your table to be ready.

The restaurant is in old house and has a nice low-key atmosphere. The upstairs bathroom has a tub full of flowers.

The menu is fairly standard Italian and there's a nice wine list. Try the seafood stew.

Bottom line: Great food, nice atmosphere, not too expensive.

THis was the first time I had been there. Never even knew it was there. We sat outside and it was very enjoyable. Food was GREAT!!!

A week ago 5 of us went there on a Saturday night. Expected it to be busy and it was. Told an hour wait and they really don't have a good place to wait. We noticed larger groups who arrived later (they don't take reservations) being seated well ahead of us. A group of 8 had hardly any wait. Finally got the explanation that they only seat you at a table meant for that size group and apparently have few 5-tops. After the hour of waiting and being bumped around as people went by, we kicked up enough fuss to be seated at a 6-top. Food was good, the server wasn't particularly friendly. No apologies for the wait just rushed us into ordering.

Friends wanted to go there tonight. Against my better judgement I went along. Same story. Open tables but there were 4 and they said it would 25+ minutes expected til a 4 top opened and they would not seat as at an open 6-top. I guess they'd rather leave it open hoping a group of 6 arrived than make us happy and give it to us. I left.

I must be in the minority not being happy with their seating methods. But sorry Mama, other places don't have your policies and have excellent food. Plenty of other Italian joints around, chain & locally owned. I won't go back. If you go and don't want this wait and treatment, go during the week when they aren't so busy.

We have been to Mama Carolla's several times and really enjoy the quaint atmosphere. The Sicilian Asparagus Patties are wonderful if you are veggie person. The Calamari is melt-in-your-mouth addictive. Aunt Mary's filet mignon stuffed with Gargonzola cheese is heavenly.

However...We would recommend going there during the week and avoiding the weekend crowd. The most disappointing experience we had there was on a Saturday. Napkins that were stuffed in empty glasses were tossed on the table by the Water Waiter, so our water glasses could be filled just as we were being seated. The table next to us was quickly reset for the next guests and we noticed that the lady putting the silverware down touched every utensil with her hands on the part that we put in our mouths.

We promised to go back, but probably on a Tuesday.
