“Great afternoon of hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2014

Went here for a hike and found it to be most pleasant. There are easy paths and paths that are a bit more difficult. It is quiet and the many of the paths are shaded by the woods. Some of the paths are a bit precarious as there are tree roots, rocks and steep drop offs. The paths very in length. This park is open all year for hiking. There are picnic areas around the park and many are at the trailheads which is nice. The paths are also used for biking so at points on the path you may have to step off to let the bikers by. This is an old army base and many of the buildings are still there. There is a small military museum as well. The park also offers horseback riding and golf.

“Beautiful, small park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2014

We went horseback riding here and had a great time! The cost is affordable and we went for the 2 mile trail ride. The trainers were patient and very safe at all times. They were patient and did a great job helping everyone stay safe on the trails! It is fun and the views are very relaxing!
There are also shelters, a playground, and several walking trails within the park!

“small but very interesting state park.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

this state park is a former army post. See the POW encampment area that was used during the World War II era with concrete pads where the tents were located. Latrines on one side of the field and mess halls on the other side of the field. See some of the buildings that were used for training at Ft. Benjamin Harrison until its closure around the mid 1990's. The Garrison Restaurant is still open and serves very delicious food.

“Plenty of hiking here, plus horseback riding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

We spent most of the afternoon here recently, hiking the park's scenic trails. It was a very hot day, but the trails were cool and shaded. Horseback riding is available.

“Great park with lots to do with kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

If you have young kids in the Indy area, or visiting the Indy area, this park is great. The trails are nice and pretty easy, there are multiple playground areas and huge sledding hill that can even be a fun challenge for kids when there is no snow. The saddle barn has pony rides for a few bucks and the kids liked that a lot. Fall Creek, that runs through the park, is always a good place to skip rocks. On our last hike we came across some deer and the kids loved it.
