“A beautiful "retreat".... yet quite close to downtown Indy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

I live only about a mile from Eagle Creek Park.....one of our city's most serene and "natural" parks with miles of biking, jogging, walking trails that take you through beautiful secluded, wooded acres where one might pass a peaceful small lake...or even find themselves on a high and majestic overlook of Eagle Creek Reservoir, one of two major bodies of water in Indianapolis.....and all this about 15 or 20 minutes from downtown Indy!! There's a lot of history there as well as it used to be a hunting retreat for the Lilly family and one can find lovely houses that now have become nature centers or ornithology centers with fantastic displays for young and old as well. My grand daughters have kinda grown up on afternoon walks through this haven and always want to go again to relive a rare and precious connection to nature and quiet solitude...much missing in their world of today. And watch out for the deer who won't give you "the time of day"....you can truly walk right past them within a few feet and they seem to almost ignore you....the children ( of all ages) really love that!

“Eagle Creek Park good fishing and trails and beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Nice family outing with fun physical activities. Beautiful scenery on Indy's West side. We walked some really cool trails that took us down to the water at Eagle Creek Park. Our kids like hiking :)

“Very nice park and a great quick outdoor getaway within the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

A very nice reservoir and nature area. There are several trails/paths to walk along, though if looking for a more secluded outdoor experience this is not your place. It is busy on the weekends, particularly nice days. Dog-friendly, though you cannot have them off-leash (unless in the Bark park, which is extra $) as is standard in Indiana parks. I think the season pass cost is a bit much at $60, particularly since the state park passes are cheaper, but is not exorbitant by any means. They also have a marina with small water craft available to rent, primarily canoes, kayaks and peddle boats, but also some small engine boats too. We will continue to go with our dogs on a regular basis.

“Great outdoors in Indy”

Eagle Creek Park has hiking, fitness trail, picnic tables, playgrounds for the kids, and a dog park (with separate admission). We love the dog park.
