“Authentic Peruvian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2012 via mobile

Open for only 9 months, Hilda created this simple and cozy Peruvian restaurant in memory of her Mama Irma. Featuring authentic offerings, if you've never enjoyed Peruvian cuisine, (new to me), you'll find complex new flavors milder than, and very different from, more familiar Mexican. Our server was not very knowledgeable but Hilda was great. Atmosphere was homestyle and plain, but clean and well prepared.

“Interesting and good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Our daughter lives in Indianapols and said she had been wanting to try Mama Irma so that's where we went. We were a party of four-hubby, daughter, her partner and me. The restaurant is small but cozy. The aromas when we walked in made us feel even more hungry than we were. We shared a couple of appetizers, each of which were quite tasty. All of the entrees were really good too. The chicken with the walnut cream sauce was the best of our choices. I would go again

“Small but Mighty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Whether you think you like Peruvian food or not, you must try this restaurant. It is located in what is becoming a funky area of Fountain Square in Indianapolis. It is run by Mama Irma's daughter and she is a delight and very accommodating. The food, the wine and the beer are all Peruvian. A must try is the house salad. Fantastic! Also, try the pasta dish with pesto. We can't wait to return.

“Peruvian food + Hilda= a truly memorable dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012 via mobile

Let me start with Chef/Owner, Hilda. She is an Amazing woman with amazing stories, amazing passion, amazing cooking skills, and a huge heart!
We were visiting Indy and within a day, 2 people had recommended that we try this small restaurant, so we did.
Since none of us were familiar with Peruvian food, Hilda patiently explained the menu and helped us make our selections. We each chose a different entree:
Tallarin Saltado de Pollo (chicken Lo mein Peruvian style)
Aji de Gallina (chicken in walnut and Parmesan sauce)
Seco de Res (cilantro based beef stew)
Tallarines con Huancarna (spaghetti with Huancarna and steak)
All were different and all were delicious!
For dessert we had:
Leche Asada (Creme brûlée)
Postre Mama Irma (upside down chocolate cake)
Peruvian Parfait (rice pudding)
Hilda's bread pudding.
BEST Creme brûlée ever!!!!
Tied for Best bread pudding (with a little Korean restaurant in Sedona)
Now these are my opinions but I am a dessertaholic!!!!!!!
Dinner for four was $90.00 including tip. I will never forget this meal and Hilda. Hug Hilda for me!
