My friend and i stayed here as a stopover between Nashville and Chicago while backpacking around the US. We had hoped to find somewhere a little more central but had read some great reviews of the place and thought we'd try our luck considering it's cheap price. We were delayed getting there as our bus was 2 hours late but we were grateful to be able to arrange a pick up ($15) as there was no way we'd have found our way there so late.
This is a cute little hostel in a residential area of Indianapolis and thus is very quiet and allowed us to kick back and relax after being on the go for so long. It's a much more personal experience as the managers (Kevin and his girlfriend whose name eludes me at the moment) live downstairs and so it's rather like staying at someone's home. The rooms were clean and tidy (the young irish girl who cleans for them was very friendly) and we were given fresh towels for our stay. The bathrooms were clean albeit very cold and the communal spaces were kept clean and tidy and provided us with space to relax in. The owners were very friendly and we took in a yoga class run by Karen (i believe that was her name) on one of the nights we were staying which was a lovely addition.
There were a few restaurants nearby (the Sinking Ship was a bit of a dive but did decent food and the staff were exceptionally charming. Also Taste was a great lunch place, tragically hip but excellent organic produce and unusual dishes on offer) but on the whole, a bike or car is needed as this area proved a bit remote for our liking.
Also. Have to give them massive kudos on how subtly they dealt with one of the women in our room who unfortunately kept us awake most of the night coughing, moving her to a different room the following morning.
