Climb the stairs to the observation deck if you can, but there is an elevator for a nominal charge. Bring a water bottle if you hoof it up the 200-something steps!
This is right in the center of town, and they have done a great job of continuing to maintain and develop the surrounding area
It is also really cool that you can see it from several locations around the city
Also a good place to snap some cool pictures
If you visit downtown Indianapolis, you can't miss this. Walk this around for few times and snap few fotos.
Loved this monument as it is a central location. Very cool to see. The museum inside was closed however on the Monday we were there. Would have loved to have seen it.
Most visitors look UP - when they should also look underneath the War Memorial - and its much bigger collection at the War Memorial building about two blocks north) Do try climbing to the top - plan for a breather 1/2 way up, after you view the city from the top - great view by the way - then go underneath and see the Civll War collection.
