“Not Worth It”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We were staying at WBSH to celebrate a birthday. The birthday person picked Sinclair's as the location for the birthday dinner. We had read all the reviews and thought we had prepared ourselves enough that we would not be disappointed. Unfortunately, that did not work.

I don't mind paying this much for a meal when the service and the food quality is worth it. Neither the service, the ambiance, nor the food quality was worth the prices they are charging. I think I could have been happy if only one of those things was off - not all of them.

We made reservations for 9pm, due to late spa appointments, yet with only 4 other tables seated in the restaurant, we still had to wait for them to find us a table. Our waitress wasn't focused on the experience - there was no above and beyond with her. She reached across us, instead of around. She forgot the ice bucket for the wine. She paid no attention to detail and not once were we asked how our meal was.

The best part of the meal was the salads. We ordered a seafood dish, chicken dish and pork dish. The seafood was small, not meaty at all - and not worth even 1/2 the price. The chicken was over salted and over glazed and not eaten by the person who ordered it. The pork dish was edible - though the asparagus was over cooked and the Risotto under cooked.

The restaurant has the potential to be the fine dining experience it's advertised as, but it's not there yet. We had better service on the café side of Sinclair's that morning for breakfast, as well as at Ballard's Bar for lunch. A truly fine dining choice would be an excellent addition to this complex. We were very disappointed in the dinner, it is unlikely we would eat there again, should we return to WBSH.

“Slow and Cold”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Went to breakfast on Saturday morning, the place was only about a third full. Took close to an hour to get our food after ordering within 10 minutes, and the eggs benedict was cold and didn't have everything that was included in egg's benedict. Was a little disappointed.

“Pretentious restaurant in an above average hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Sinclair's is located in the West Baden Hotel located in the French Lick Hotel complex in French Lick Indiana.

West Baden Hotel is a luxurious restoration of a landmark hotel that I've not seen on such a scale. In one word, marvelous.

The hotel is a circular building with 6 story Greek columns and gilding all over. Beautiful mosaic floors.

The hotel has an extensive spa complex, full pool and many restaurants.

Amongst the restaurants is Sinclair's, advertised as an elegant place too eat. On October 17th, 2013, my wife, I and a group of her fellow designers decided to celebrate one of the members birthday there. We had no reservations and the organizer of our 4 day stay proceeded to go into the restaurant to see if it was open enough to accommodate the 14 of us. The response he received was to say the least shocking. He was told that because we had no reservation, we could not be seated. The restaurant had only one party of approximately eight in it at the time and had no other reservations nor anyone else seated at tables. When he came out to tell us the information, we were stunned. While we tried to figure out what had just transpired when the day manager approached us and made matters worse. He explained that they were not staffed to accommodate anyone without a reservation. One couple asked if they would be seated if they had not made a reservation, and he responded yes. Then we asked again and again and the same response. The we asked if we split into two groups and then his response was he couldn't accommodate a group like ours. Then it dawned upon us what was happening. We didn't fit the profile of customers allowed in his restaurant. We didn't have jackets on. Had he realized that he was turning down several millionaires, he may have had acted differently or not.

I've been reviewing restaurants and hotels for years for Tripadvisor and have never had an experience like this to report and hope that I never will again.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant until the management realizes that people that can afford to buy their restaurant should at least be able to eat their. The combined amount left at the hotel by our group was approximately $12,000 for our rooms, meals and spa treatments.

“Fine good, excellent service.”

Nothing to whine about, if you do the issue is you not the place. Why this site requires more characters to say something just forthright is a puzzle to me.

“Good Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

We were a group of 9 ranging in age from l year to ....well, a high number. I was pleased with the service we received. We were politely asked to wait a few minutes while two near-by tables were cleared. The waitress and servers were pleasant and helpful in securing a high chair for the baby and taking a wide range of food orders. Everything got delivered as ordered.
