We prepared ourselves for a special celebration-it was my birthday- but we were negatively surprised. First of all the lobster bisque was serve cold and was a bit too sour. The bread did not look fresh and the frog legs, although had a nice crisp fried batter, had no seasoning. We also tried the duck and it was a fun Asian/French twist of duck confit inside an egg roll, but it did not work for me. The duck was lost in the otherwise very common flavors of the fried rolls. My main dish was the Scottish salmon and it was well prepared (it came warm, moist inside and with a nice crusty top) but its crust was too salty. Now, all in all dinner was ok but overpriced when you add up all of the disappointments. What really killed it for us was next morning's breakfast at the Sinclairs cafe. Do not get their potatoes. They had no seasoning at all! Also the quiche had nothing but milk and eggs and again no flavor. The dish was supposed to have gruyere cheese and ham, but it had nothing! This is very unacceptable.
We would love to spend time at West Baden again because the hotel and staff were wonderful and we loved the spa and other activities, but they need better food ASAP.
