“A really great zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

I go to Fort Wayne on a regular basis as I used to live in Fort Wayne and several family members and friends still live in Fort Wayne. The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is clean, well organized, and a pleasure to walk around in. The Zoo has a large and vast variety of animals. There are many interactive activities for the kids as well as a merry-go-round, Dairy Queen, petting zoo, pony rides, log ride, and giraffe feeding. For adults doing only moderate reading of displays, you can get through this zoo in two hours. The new African Journey (that replaced the old African Veldt) is very impressive. It's nice to be able to feed the giraffes. The Indonesian Rain Forest is also very nice. The biosphere is definitely a highlight, but the entire area is amazing and very informative. The price of admission is reasonable.

“Quaint and lovely grounds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We were not expecting this Zoo to be such a gem. We got the family year pass and have gone 3 times since spring. Our first trip was cool and spring flowers were out. I must say the gardens surrounding the walkways through the zoo are beautiful. Favorite parts were the Sea Lions, Feeding Giraffes, Sky Safari ride and the Tigers. Some areas could use some updating at this zoo for sure and the food choices and pricing is poor. Bring your own lunch in a small cooler with lots of cold water,go out to eat on your way home. We have 3 children ,so breaking up our visit to certain sections of the Zoo was an excellent plan. You will need extra money for tokens, for all rides and ponies, buy the pass at the front its worth it. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 for the poor food. Look for the cooling sprinkler park by the train ride if your hot.

“Wonderful Zoo Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is truly a great zoo. The parking is free but filled up fast so be prepared to walk a little bit with the overflow parking area. The price is fairly good for the amount of time you get to spend. We spent approx 4 hours. We did not see the "farm area and part of Australian adventure," so depending on how long you like to spend a good 4 or more hours could be planned. This zoo has lots of shade and tons of benches to sit along the way. I truly enjoyed the shaded/benched areas. The best thing about this zoo is the set up. Instead of a free area where you just wonder around you enter Africa, Indonesia, Australia and Indiana farm areas.....each area is separate but wonderful and then as you merge out you find open areas with lots of vendors for food/drinks and places to sit down. Each zoo attraction area has some sort of inside place to view animals or displays so you get a cool break. I loved the Indonesian rain forest! It was an enclosed Eco system and we actually say banana plants growing. There was a train ride, a log ride, a sky ride and a carousel as well for small $ amounts. My very favorite part was actually feeding and petting the giraffes. Truly a great experience and the kids loved it. Food wise we entered with snacks in the diaper bag and bottled water. There are plenty of vendors selling pop/water/ice cream/snack items. There are several places that sell sandwich/pizza/fries and the prices were not horrible. My parents got sandwiches and fries and they were happy with the amount of food and cost. We saw some one with a full pizza and it was good size for the money. Definitely would go back again at some point.

“Great zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Went here with the family. We had a great time. Our girls got to feed a giraffe for only a dollar. They was a gray deal. Other zoos charge much more.

“One Fantastic Daytrip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Wonderful zoo, very clean, great service. The landscaping and way the whole park was set up in differing "geological" areas was great. We visited for 2 hours with 3 small children; they were engaged and has fun without getting so tired of walking long distances. The cages were small (In my opinion, any zoo has cages too small) but the children were able to see the animals easily enough.
It is worth the drive to see this small but very entertaining zoo!
