La Fogata is tucked away out of sight in a rather barren strip mall, yet they survive due to their great service and tasty food. We have never had to wait for a table. This is a restaurant popular in the area for good food, and a large assortment of menu options, including Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. All in all, you will get a good meal, great service, and no shock when you get the bill.
It is casual, inexpensive, and good. It's a typical neighborhood Mexican restaurant located between an abandoned movie theatre and a “most everything is a dollar” store on Bluffton Road between Brooklyn and Broadway in Fort Wayne, IN. La Fogata is on the far west side of the parking lot that it shares with Hall’s and Lester’s Party Room.
Each time I go to La Fogata, there is only one waiter. He is very good – friendly, helpful, and attentive. The food seems slow coming from the kitchen, but that is because it is cooked fresh and it is served hot. The menu includes the usual mex-americana but also has some very delicious authentic dishes that you cannot get just anywhere in town. La Fogata is the real deal; tacos are served in soft corn tortillas with cilantro and onion and you have the choice of chicken, ground beef, steak, chorizo, and a couple traditional Mexican meats.
The Fajitas come sizzling and seasoned perfectly delicious! The burrito is huge! I am also huge, and I ended up taking half my burrito home! Might be due to the fact I filled up on wonderful chips and salsa? Whereas the salsa is indeed unique, and quite good, it is too hot for me, so they make me a wonderful mild salsa when I ask, but everyone else loves their salsa.
