Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. They did a nice job of transforming this former BBQ joint into a classy Japanese Restaurant. My date and I sat on the Hibachi grill side. They have a drink menu that includes over 10 different bottles of Sake. I didn't see a list of beer since I had intended on ordering Sapporo and a Vase of Sake to do bombs. So instead we just ordered 1 sake bomb each which was listed on the menu at like $4.95 each. I was a little perturbed when I saw a group of people get a tall can of Sapporo and made there own bombs. Well now I know...just wish it was on the menu since I assumed you have to order them one at a time because again...it was not listed on the drink menu. Whatever. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my date ordered the Hibachi Steak which was a New York Strip. Do yourself a favor and pay $2 extra for the filet. There was a noticeable difference in the tenderness of my steak. You get clear soup to start which was very good, a side salad follows which was also good. Everyone got 3 grilled shrimp unless you ordered a surf and turf in which case you got more. The Yum Yum sauce as they call it is excellent with the shrimp. I don't eat shrimp but I like it at Japanese restaurants with the sauce. Then you get steamed or fried rice and some grilled veggies. I ordered my filet medium/ medium rare and this other patron ordered his medium and the chef pulled the other patrons meat off the grill before mine. Umm hello?? I ordered mine in the rarer side so clearly my meat should be plated first...stupid chef. Regardless it was filet so it was going to be tender anyways. The meal was fantastic!! Good food, good quality. The chef joked around a little bit and tried to impress us with his knife skills. Our meal including two sake bombs each came to around $65. I would say it was worth it and would definitely return. Can't say it was better or worse than Takaoka both joints are fabulous.
