I stayed at this hotel the night before the famous Vera Bradley sale. Upon entering the hotel, I noticed a damp smell--but the pool is located right behind the lobby, and that seemed to be the culprit. My room was fine--very clean and no moisture problems. Even the bathroom was spic-and-span clean, though towels are modest and rough--not luxiorious. This hotel provides PANTENE shampoo--no conditioner. Guests also get a bottle of Vaseline intensive care lotion and Jergins soaps.
While I was there, two other guests arrived with their reservation details printed from their computer. As it turned out, they called the national number and booked their room two months in advance. Upon their arrival, they were told that the hotel assigns rooms when bookings come in--and that there must have been a glitch between the national reservation center and the hotel--they were put in a SMOKING room. Since the hotel was sold out, the desk clerk told the ladies that they would have to go elsewhere, as all of the other rooms were taken. It seemed absolutely bizarre to me that these women were being turned away in such a matter of fact manner--especially since one of them was wearing a breast cancer t-shirt and told the clerk at the desk that she was going through chemotherapy. The customer service was truly terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ultimately, another kind traveler gave up her room and all was well--but the big lesson here is CALL THE HOTEL DIRECTLY for reservations--otherwise your info might be botched and you will be out in the cold!
This hotel provides a clean room and an okay breakfast--scrambled eggs (NO KETCHUP!), bacon, waffle batter, danish, etc. Guests also get a USA Today and free use of a computer with Internet.
I have stayed at other locations of this chain, and they were much nicer. The owner of this property could give it a little TLC, and it would be more inviting.
I stayed mid-week for business and I was happy to get a good rate. The room was clean and came with a micro and fridge, and free high speed internet.
The internet did not work consistantly (it would load part of a page and stop) and that was frustrating because I had hoped to get more work done.
The biggest problem that I had was the loud, very drunk guests that were using the pool. They woke my up by shouting at each other down the hall. And some of the things they were shouting were quite inappropriate. As far as I could hear without leaving my room, they were never asked by the front desk to be quiet. I could still hear them when they returned into their rooms.
The location was nice, near a big Meijer store, Starbucks, and Applebees.
I don't know if I would stay there again. I stayed at the Hilton Garden my second trip to Ft Wayne, and I liked that much, much better.
