Love the island, love the people, love Jungle Bay!
The sights, the sounds, the aromas...have to be experienced to be believed. Fresh local fruits and vegetables, fresh seafood, all excellently prepared by Joanne and her staff in the dining pavilion.

Daily activities to areas of natural wonder and beauty, guided by knowledgeable, friendly local experts. Local residents who are not associated with Jungle Bay are warm, caring, spiritual and intelligent. Then Sam transform them into truly amazing staff members!

Can't wait to return!

This is a really fantastic place with possibly the friendliest and most helpful staff of any hotel I have ever stayed in. The cottages are lovely and airy with a great through breeze at night (and no mosquitoes to worry about) even thought there is a mosquito net. Loved the semi outdoor shower and our resident house lizard! The food is good but perhaps there could be a bit more variety of main courses at dinner, however the breakfast and lunch was great. The ginger ice tea is fantastic! All the trips are very well organised but you do need to be fairly fit to really enjoy them and not feel completely knackered afterwards! There is a lot of wading through water and over slippery rocks and tree roots so choose your footwear wisely! The yoga was a great way to start the day with the sun beaming into the yoga studio and the birds popping in to see what was going on! I was truly sad to leave and hope to return again in a few years time. Dominica it a breathtakingly beautiful island, lets hope it stays that way!

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage high up if you want the sea views as I don't think you can see the sea from so...

My husband and I travelled with three teenagers. Loved every minute of our stay! The food was fabulous - local and fresh and we have 3 vegans in our group who always had many choices. We did a hike or activity such as a snorkeling trip every day. Still had time to do morning yoga, lounge by the pool, and get a massage. Staff and other guests are very very friendly. No crowds -- always a free lounge chair by the pool and table available in the dining room -- this is a no stress, healthy vacation! We did the all inclusive package which was great -- only alcoholic drinks were extra and were MUCH cheaper than typical US restaurant prices.

The only downside is the driving (to/from airport and to farther excursions) can cause car sickness due to the twisty/narrow roads. Bring dramamine or patches if this is an issue and be sure to sit in the front.

Awakened each morning to the smells of baking from the kitchen and waves crashing on the shore. Each day brought a different experience and wonders. Hiking, swimming, meeting local people, and sharing life stories. The high point, well one of them, was the trek to Pomme's farm. truly a spiritual reawakening and renewal of commitment to live life to its fullest. I can't begin to describe the sheer beauty, friendly people, fantastic staff, and Jungle Bay's care for the community. I need to go back for many reasons, Justin's soup, Open Mouth hill climb, Judy's talks, Joanne's cooking, and much more than this space will allow. Thank you Sam and Nancy.

Room Tip: All are great.

Just returned from Jungle Bay. Fabulous. Felt we had the best cabin on the site (No 1) with amazing views of the Atlantic. Also, it was quite close to the restaurant and only 90 steps to climb. This cabin would not suit people who do not like hearing the sea crashing on the beach (it's quite noisy and doesn't stop at night!) but we just loved it. Whales are sometimes seen in the sea but even though we spent several happy hours sitting on our glorious wooden and very private veranda, we didn't see any unfortunately. But we did see lots of birds and huge numbers of lizards which are just everywhere and unbelievably unafraid. Amazingly no mossies or any other nasty insects. The cabin inside was lovely, large, wooden and rustic with an outside shower. Coffee-making facilities too (topped up every day) AND a fridge which was a nice bonus. There are also fresh drinking water points at Reception and at the restaurant which we found very useful.

There is a fabulous, huge games room (with 3 computers for general use supplied too) above reception which we utilised every day. We are keen table-tennis players and thoroughly enjoyed our daily match before dinner. Were also able to check emails etc. (When our time came to check out, the young lady on reception was so helpful in booking our seats back to London and printing out the boarding passes for us).

ALL the staff were all delightful, accommodating and helpful. Wonderful service. Lovely food, my personal favourites being the King Fish and Banana Flambe. Yum.

Went on 3 hikes, the most enjoyable and fun for us was the one up to Victoria Falls. Not a long hike but the falls are gorgeous and I've never swum in such an amazing plunge pool before underneath this amazing crashing waterfall. Didn't have a cossie on but couldn't resist and went in fully clothed! This hike is more of a wade and rock scramble than a walk - we crossed the river many times, often up to our bums and slipping and sliding. Lots of laughs. Waterproof footwear essential (I wore hiking sandals) and preferably a waterproof backpack too for this one. My other half's wallet and phone only just survived!

Our least favourite walk was up to Pomme's place (Perdu Temps trail). Too many people (over 40 I think) and even though Pomme's place is amazing and he is a lovely man, I felt we spent far too long there - about 1 1/2 hours. It was lovely to eat fresh grapefruit off the trees along the way though. The guides also showed us many interesting things that grow there along the paths, too many to mention.

On our last day we did the Boiling Lake hike. Wore proper solid hiking boots for this one and pleased we did. It's quite tough and we were chuffed we managed this walk OK (being 60 and 61) and weren't even the last to get back!! All the other thirsty hikers had quickly exhausted the supplies of Kubuli (the local beer) on our arrival back at the starting point, so Nancy popped us in the wonderful open Jungle Bay 4x4 and ran us up to the nearest local bar - service indeed!!

We're not into spas, massages and yoga and we were able to select 4 activities for our stay there which suited us perfectly, being a 5 night stay. Had one lazy day and spent much of it by the lovely pool which overlooks the ocean. There are solid wooden sunbeds there (extremely heavy) with comfortable padded mattresses and large pool towels provided. Sun shades too if required.

Altogether a wonderful stay and I would thoroughly recommend Jungle Bay.

Room Tip: We LOVED cabin no 1. Fabulous views of the Atlantic, permanent noise of the pounding sea (don't...

If you like really friendly staff, expertly taught beginners yoga in the morning, a daily 30 min massage, interesting trips with expert guides, healthy fresh food nicely cooked (the blackened fish was excellent) and breathtaking sunrises with great views then this is your place. Like others we loved both the place and the people. Nancy deserves a special mention but everyone was lovely.

It isn't top luxury, Dominica doesn't have (many) beaches and although the cottages are comfortable, most are up a flight of steps (150 to ours, but we feel fitter for all that exercise).

The activities can mean a longish drive, but we found that was a good chance to chat with other people and make new friends. Some of the activities have over 25 people going on them, but there is always sufficient transport, plenty of guides and they make sure everyone enjoys themselves.

All in all highly recommended. Go for the jungle package.

Overall fabulous experience. Great facilities, even better staff and service. Extremely homely and welcoming. Experience nature at its best in great comfort. Management and owner go out of the way to make you welcome. Food is excellent and varied. Great options for vegetarians as well. A snooze in the hammock in the sit out which each cabin has is heavenly. Cannot fault the place. My wife and I had a great holiday!
