“Very Nice Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

I was passing through and thought this sounded interesting. It met my expectations. Very informational welcome center, amazing employees and very clean all around. It was awesome to get to see the mounds and everything they had to offer there. Very beautiful place!

“Very Well Done”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

We never knew this fascinating part of Indiana’s history. This site has a video to introduce the visitor to the mounds culture, then there’s a wealth of information in the museum. There are dioramas, things to touch and suggestions of things to see, try and think about. Really great for both adults and supervised children. You can learn a lot from the very well done panels and displays.
Then you can take a walk around the mounds and see and touch the actual reconstructed buildings in the walled stockade. There’s a self guided tour brochure. Interpretive panels tell the story. Or, you can bicycle the paths if that’s your pleasure. There are places to just sit and contemplate what it would have been like to live in that culture. There’s a small gift shop that’s worth a look before you leave.

“3 places like this in the world.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

Lots of walking in fields, don't like that, stay away. This is one of the few remaining examples of the mississippi people mound culture. Rebuild examples of walls and huts. A nice visitors center. Make the most and come when Native Americans are having real pow wows here!

“Good for adults, not so much for kids.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

Adults who read and understand the info provided at Angel Mounds SHS, and who are interested in the archaeology of the site will enjoy walking the grounds, but kids will be bored in just a few minutes. If all they see and appreciate are a big meadow with a tall pile of dirt, they will be bored in 10 minutes. I am a retired teacher who took 7th graders on a 4 day trip to Mammoth Cave National Park and numerous other sites along the way. While I love Angel Mounds myself, I would not consider taking kids here unless there were very special activities taking place. (The do offer special activities from time to time that kids would love...check the schedule.)
