We were in Decatur for my fathers funeral. Only 2 hotels to choose from of which Baymont was most impressive via Internet. After a long day of traveling we checked in around 5pm. Was greeted with great reception and that actually continued. We entered our room and was greeted with an enormous wolf spider on our bed. After calling the front desk she returned to our room with us and we made her aware of the following; carpets not swept, mirror had tooth paste smudge and spots. Fridge was turned off and had a terrible mildew odor. Finally, the ceiling over the tub was caving in. Needless to say she was very embarrassed and made every attempt to provide us with 6 suitable rooms for our family. After looking in countless rooms on both floors we settled on some rooms but not until traveling through the hotel and noticing areas needed repaired; wallpaper peeling off he walls, mold gathering around the bathroom tub and stools. Dirty bedding and stains throughout. The pool was equally disappointing as it was closed due to recent added chemicals. You could see the discoloration in the water and being that we are pool owners we fully understood why that occurred and it would be off limits. Indeed the service lady was extremely helpful but we could clearly sense her embarrassment. I spoke with the service manager in the morning who was defensive with my concerns but said she would pass along my comments. I had so many issues she could not possibly have remembered each one and did not write down anything I said. With all this said, you can only imagine our experience with breakfast. This hotel needs a complete overhaul room by room. But first fix the leaks in the lobby making it safe for your guests

Hotel has changed brands and decor has been somewhat updated. Outside still has screens torn and crumpled. In the room, Wallpaper is coming apart. The King Bed was comfortable but you can hear everything being said in the halls. We Would have like to use the pool but it was being shocked since it was green with algae which says to me they are not testing the water regularly for it to get to that point. As I said above, not many choices in town, this used to be the best option, now....not so sure.

It's a place to stay (room 115). Ceiling plaster in the tub area is falling apart. The Hot/clod knob fell off in the tub. The bedding was marked up. For the breakfast food, the eggs and sausage that you have to heat yourself in the microwave was tasteless. The baglels were hard and some of the cereal was stale. The coffee and hot chocolate was good.

I have no complaints about the room at Baymont Inn & Suites. The room was quite large & we like having a king sized bed. The pillows were not great, but I always bring my feather pillow when I travel anyway.
The 'free' breakfast was where the Baymont fell short. The bagel was hard rather than fresh. No cream cheese for the bagel - just peanut butter & jelly. Many of the plastic eating utensils (forks, spoons, knives) that guests helped themselves to from a cup-like container had the utensils in the 'handle down' position - meaning the eating end was sticking up where people would touch some of the other utensils when getting just one for themselves. This is not a sanitary method of offering the eating utensils. I was grossed out by this. And I think this is against the food serving regulations.
