“Lovely wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Great find and very pleased we met these wonderful people - Jean Yves and Nicole were a great example of French hospitality at its best. Even before we had unpacked Jean Yves gave us a nice tour starting with his organic winemaking in the barn followed by the local 12th century church with it's musical connection and Gerard Depardieu's chateau thrown in for good measure. We stayed in the annexe which had a superb walk in shower and was so quiet it was heaven.
Breakfast again did not disappoint and with a good selection of home made goodies it was yummy and all this for a very reasonable price (we liked it so much we overpaid like the tv programme)
Definitely on the list for a return visit when next in France.
Keep it up and don't change a thing!!!

We stayed for one night en route to London from Spain and I wish we had stayed for longer . The rooms were beautifully appointed, with contemporary walk in shower rooms .My children loved the showers and so did I .A far cry from the lousy one in the hotel in Spain we stayed in the night before. Our rooms were on the ground floor at the back of the chateau , overlooking the yard where the horses and peacocks were. There is a beautiful lake with swans and my 9 year old daughter enjoyed walking int thr grounds collecting feathers.
We opted for the home made dinner, as we were not sure how long we would be driving there. What a relief after a long all day journey in the car to turn the corner and find this beautiful oasis of calm .The dinner was the best we had all summer, even after eating out at many restaurants .Nicole spoke English and Jean-Yves did not, but we managed to communicate fine.Monsieur served pre dinner drinks on the terrace - home made wines, home made tapenade, locally sourced saucisson and it was a taste of the dinner to come. A six course dinner was served- you could tell the food was cooked and grown with love. It was a real family meal. There was Nicole and Jean-Yves, and another couple staying and another couple ( whose younger grandchildren had eaten earlier) and our selves with our 3 children ( 15,11,9) .We had an egg with the white removed and the yolk was inside with a cream concoction injected inside, we had the best tomatoes picked earlier that afternoon with olive oil and salt, we had moules in a dreamy creamy sauce and then the best cooked beef with a crushed potatoes mash with lots of yummy garlic .The dessert was a meringue served with a simple warm custard cream sauce. The surrounding area is beautiful and unfortunately we did not get a chance to explore much, though we did go to Samur and visit a troglodyte site which was stunning .I really feel like keeping this as my little secret, but Nicole and Jean-Yves are too wonderful as hosts and you must not pass them by ...Many thanks for a memorable trip and meal .

Room Tip: We had the rooms overlooking the garden- peaceful, tranquil and romantic ....
