Val's is both a restaurant and a bar, the two entities separated by an open doorway. The pizza is okay and the calzones are perhaps the highlight, with lots of stuffing and a crust that is ample but doesn't dominate. Pasta sauce seems somewhat bland compared to some other restaurants and salads aren't all that memorable. Pizza is chewy and satisfying. Grinders (sub sandwiches) are a specialty and are better than typical sub restaurant fare because the ingredients are more plentiful and seem fresher. Prices are quite moderate, making this a good value. You won't be disappointed by anything you get here, but you won't remember it much once you leave. This is a good place to go for quick food and quick and efficient service.
