“the best stay i ever had in Greece”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

This trip was the best I ever had in Athens and I go almost every year for the last 10 years. The hotel Metropolitan is nicely located near the center and that made it easy to visit the sites with my family. The stuff and the manager welcomed us personally and every body was so polite and pleasant .I will go again next year I promised myself that .

Room Tip: try the top floors facing the sea.

We had 4 nights at the Metropolitan in late Sep/early Oct, booked by our tour company. The hotel is not close to city center, requiring a cab ride or hotel shuttle to visit Plaka or other sites. Shuttle stops ~16:30 on weekends, and it's beat up and dirty, with no air cond. Hotel issues - broken shower nozzle, drips down the wall (air cond?), dirty bedspreads, disgusting carpets, linens with holes in them, ancient TV's . To top it off, hotel made us wait 3-4 hours for a room when returning from our cruise, while none of our travel mates had to wait at the Caravel.

Room Tip: Ask for a view room (of Piraeus).

Dear Westcoaster604,

Thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback with reference your recent stay at the Metropolitan Hotel in Athens.

We always take feedback from our clients in a positive way and comments such as yours always help us improve our services and product. I would like to assure you that we took your comments under serious consideration.

For many years thousands of guests appreciate our services. Your experience is an isolated incident which by no means reflects the standard of services delivered in our hotel and we assure you that we already took all the necessary actions to secure that such incident will not occur in the future. My team and I were sadden to hear that we did not meet your expectation.
Related to your comment about the “waiting time”, unfortunately due to the high occupancy, certain delays may occur for early check-ins, for which we regret.

Please accept our apologies for your experience.

Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future and please do not hesitate to make your reservation with my office directly next time you are visiting Greece.

Sincerely yours,

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in September, 2012 as the first part of a land and sea tour of Greece and Turkey. We had 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts at the hotel. The food was served buffet style so service was fast and the food was good. It was labeled in English. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We could see the Acropolis from the rooftop bar at night. The shuttle to downtown ran frequently and dropped us off at Constitution Square. It was an easy walk to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and also to the Plaka neighborhood. Even if there were demonstrations in Constitution Square the hotel is far enough away that it would not be affected.

lovely hotel, excellent roof top garden and pool
Wonderful views
Breakfast 'out of this world'
Very busy but staff managed to keep things moving and the buffet well stocked. We chose to eat out for 2/3 evenings but that was only to experience Athens
The concierge was most helpful and the shop sold stamps
Position is great as easy access to Airport or elewhere and miss the Athens traffic

Room Tip: try to get a room with a balcony quiter and the balcony just perfect

Excellent Hotel about 5 Miles away from Downtown Athens, we were not near the Demonstrations during the day. At night going to Downtown you could catch a whiff of Tear Gas but it wasn't bad. Nice Hotel, Internet is pricey in Room $17 Euro, but free WiFi in Lobby. Breakfast was Awesome, supper was just OK.

Metropolitan Hotel Athens is great for business. Its location, a short taxi ride either to downtown Athens or Piraeus gives the flexibility needed for visiting clients etc. There’s a shuttle up to Sytagma Square for the essential tourism which places you conveniently for the main sights and night life. Taxis aren’t expensive so moving around Athens is not a problem. The rooms are adequate, have everything you need (except coffee/tea facilities..shame.) And are reasonable. I visited on a ‘room only’ deal but the breakfast buffet looked good and was obviously enjoyed by many. The lounge snack bar offers gigantic club sandwiches, salads, soups etc along with the teas, coffees, and drinks you’d expect. About 15 euro for a salad but it’s a good one! Coke 4.50 euro. There’s a ‘business centre’ (a computer in a quiet room) for which you pay, except when you want to simply check into a flight on line and print your boarding pass. The rooftop pool has a lovely view and enough room for a dip and a burn in comfort! Staff are all extremely helpful and courteous. Only complaint must be the mini bar prices which irritate to the point of buying elsewhere. 5 eu for a coke, 9 eu for a miniature scotch, 4.50 eu for mineral water. Laughable. I am convinced that lower minibar prices would encourage consumption to an extent that more profit would be the result. Good hotel, hope to stay there again.

Dear Mr. BasilMav,

We thank you for taking the time to complete your feedback of your recent stay at the Metropolitan Hotel.

We were pleased to note that you were satisfied with the location and the comfort of your room and our services. Also we are especially delighted to read that you enjoyed our snacks and beverages served at our “Atrium” Bar. Your kind comments about the help and courtesy of our team have been passed on to my colleagues.

With reference the mini bar prices, we implement moderate pricing policy as we regularly carry out a competitive market analysis with other hotels, however we are taking your comments under serious consideration.

THANK YOU for staying with us, we are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

We stayed at this hotel last week on two separate dates, it was in a fantastic location and had a fantastic view of the acropolis. It was very clean and had lovely staff. We travelled with a baby, they had lovely clean cots and supplied extra towells. We did not have breakfast but one could have it for an extra €8 we went to a pasisserie just next door.
