“We Regenerated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

We each had been on extended work cycles for weeks on end. When mission end came, we chose her work site, Bloomington, as where we would regenerate. The Showers Inn was the PERFECT place to be our home for those four days. Well appointed, with caring staff, it was easy walking distance of great nightlife and eating.

We unconditionally recommend the Showers Inn

Room Tip: Any room is good. The Stardust Suite, our room, had a couples shower. That's something we are...

I lucked into a room for a very busy weekend in Bloomington and was I ever fortunate. Showers Inn is a charming and comfortable B and B that is very clean, very friendly and with the most comfortable bed ever. There is a separate parking lot, which is a plus in a parking starved town. You will pass through what will soon be a beautiful flowered courtyard on the walk from the lot to the building. There is a fountain, brick walks and some seating. All that was missing was Spring! I'm sure in a few weeks that it will be gorgeous.

The location is terrific if you want to walk to town or campus, but along with that convenience comes the noise of the students who live nearby, so know that if you are a light sleeper, the neighbors and the wooden floors could be an issue. I felt these were part of the charm.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. If you have a special dietary request for breakfast, they will happily help you.

The building itself is on the National Register of Historic places so there are lots of idiosyncrasies and interesting details to notice and enjoy.

One big issue potential travelers should know is that there can be LOTS of stairs. So, if your luggage is heavy or you are unable to negotiate stairs, this may not be a proper choice for your needs.

Overall, I checked out feeling very grateful and fortunate for having found this gem. I will be returning the next time I spend the night in Bloomington.

The greatest bed I have ever sleep in away from home and the sheets were heavenly as well. They have thought of small details that make you feel so special, the ipod docking station connected to the rooms speaker systems, the gas fire place and the beautiful bathroom. The only draw back was the bars let out at 2am and college kids are very loud but the bed was so wonderful I didn't mind being woke up. Jake took very good care of us and made a great breakfast.

I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn when I come to Bloomington, but I may change my preference to Showers Inn! This is one of the nicest, most luxuriously furnished B&Bs I've ever stayed in. Cozy and friendly, but still upscale enough to make you feel like you're staying somewhere special. The "You're the Top" room I stayed in was outstanding - lovely furnishings with a gas fireplace, Keurig, walk-out balcony, super-comfortable bed and gorgeous modern bathroom.

The only thing that let me down was the breakfast. In a place this nice, I had expected a much better meal, not just average bananas, apples, bagels and cold cereal. Next time, I'd skip it and head over to Kirkwood or the square to eat instead.

Room Tip: The rooms in the separate "composers" building may be slightly quieter than those in the m...

This bed and breakfast is very clean and well appointed. My only complaint and current review is of our time in the Stardust room. It was VERY noisy both because of a college party next door and because we were on the lower level and the people upstairs were very noisey. They hardwood floors magnified the footsteps. Also the Stardust room is by the front door, so whenever someone came in, were awakened too.I requested to check out a couple hours later due to our lack of sleep and received a one hour extension. Spending $309 per night and only getting a few hours of sleep due to noise was a bummer.
We stayed previously in the Main House and did not have a noise issue. We will not chance a stay again.

Room Tip: Stay in the main property.

This is the 5th place I've stayed in 3 years as an IU parent and by far the best. Loved our room, great service and perfect location just a 5 min walk to the square. The food was good, although not the best I've had at a B&B. The best part was our room in the newer building - didn't want to leave. Will not stay anyplace else in the future and have already told a few friends.

Cute home converted to a b n b. room was cozy and clean. Breakfasts were very good as well. The inn was a little noisy in the am when the person in the room next door was showering .

Room Tip: Ask for the Roosevelt room
