“Internal theft problem”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2009

A laptop computer accidently left behind after check out "disappeared" within 3 hours time from check out to our returning for it. There is a police report to document this and polygraph test taken of one of the staff members. Local and corporate management uninterested. Do not leave your valuables in the room should you stay at this hotel.

Our family had a very pleasant five night stay at this property. It is independently owned. The owner works daily outside on the flowers beds and grounds. Beautiful. The stone building looks as though at one time was a prison. The interior courtyard is where the outdoor pool is located. Pristine. Our regular room was perfectly clean with no mold. The housekeepers at times forget to leave cups or new soaps but it was no bother since there were others so that we never ran out. The towels are large and numerous. The counters and tables are wiped down daily. The shower pressure is exceptional. Plenty of hot water. Very large TV with cable access. Free local calls. There are about 4 strip malls across the street and within walking distance. Many department stores, discount stores, banks and inumerable restaurants. A wonderful Golden Coral buffet restaurant in in one of the malls where you can get a terrific meal for about $7 during the day. And we always hated buffets. Granted the building is set up so that your room may be some distance from the one elevator. I'm sure if you requested a room near the elevator it would be honored since the reception desk is people friendly. The parking lot is set up so that you can park near one of the three entrances. Of couse you would have to walk up to your room which may be on the third floor. Ice machines on every floor. There is a very nice excercise room and free internet access and ATM in the lobby. A pipe inside the toilet bowl fell out of it's setting and spilled water over the floor. It was repaired and the water mopped up within 15 minutes. The fridge was handy and we filled it on the first day since a 24 hr. Wal-Mart was across the street. Did not try the restaurant or the complimentary breakfast. In these days of quick turnovers of hotels this property is a gem.

On the 2nd of June, I had 3 business colleagues stay at this hotel, one in a non-smoking room 2 in a smoking room. On the 27th of June I noticed 2 separate charges on the credit card statement, 1 was for the cost of the rooms the other($374.50) was a mystery. We contacted the credit card company, and were told the $374.50 charge was for damage done to the smoking room. After we called the credit card company I was contacted by the hotel stating that there were burns on one of the comforters and on the carpeting and they were charging us for it. I asked why I was just finding out and was told that they had tried to contact us all month. I was also told that they had left a message on the answering machine. I did not receive a call nor have a message on the answering machine. I asked the hotel to send me pictures of the damage, they sent 4 pictures that were taken on June the 5th, there is no way by looking at the pictures that you can tell if this is even the same room that my people stayed in. I was assured by our employees that they did not damage this room I feel like I am being scammed. We will not be staying at this hotel again.

I travel to the area often on business, this location is one of the better places to stay. Staff are polite and helpful. Cleanliness is good througout hotel including rooms, restrooms, and lobby. Amenities are up to date and work. The resturant is good but has limited hours. Downsides are that the hotel is spralling and if you stay at the far end you have a hike to the front and the elevators are centrally located. Some of the rooms have all new furniture while others have older or mis-matached furniture. Most rooms provide a microwave and a larger size fridge. Internet usulally works good, sometimes it is slow. I had no internet one night, called their 800 number, and they sent a tech over and fixed it in about an hour. The continental breakfast is above average with good selection and take out items. Nothing out of the ordinary but you could do alot worse.

Wouldn't really recommend this room to anyone. Looks ok from outside. Wasn't worth the price because the carpet was wet in the sink area because there was a leak. Put a trash can under the pipe and had to listen to drip drip drip all night. The toilet seat was loose and the a/c would not work right. It ran for maybe 30 minutes then quit and didn't kick back on. It was not set on auto so there was no reason to kick off. It was too hot to rest comfortably. when told the front desk about it, they just said they were sorry and didn't offer a refund, partial refund or anything. If staying in Beford, go to the Spring Mill Inn which is where I would have gone had they not been booked. It is wonderful and worth the hard earned money you dish out to them.
