In a word? Magic. Remember leaving camp as a kid and all you could think about was how many days until you got to return? That's how we felt pulling out of Clayoquot after our visit last week. Stayed in Tofino a couple more nights to wean ourselves from the beauty; plopped down in our Relais & Chateau hotel room, looked at each other and went, 'heh'. It just wasn't camp. Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is a world class destination, with world class cuisine and activities, yet relaxed and intimate. No picture could possibly capture its magnificence, nor the spirit of the place. The camaraderie that developed between guests and staff only added to the experience. Our time there was, by far, the best we've every had on vacation. If you've read the previous reviews, all of the details are covered, accommodations...we should all have outdoor showers, the sure-footed horses, the dogs filling in for our absent pets, the food, oh, the food, the competent guides and the wild beauty. We wish to send our heartfelt thanks to Chef Ryan Orr, Kaelhub, Tanja, Blair and Andy for the fabulous cuisine and hearty laughs, as well as for ensuring a most memorable birthday. Special thanks also go to Cheryl, Chuck and Dixon for their expertise and company while sharing some of the most beautiful enclaves on the planet and to Kathy, for her crackerjack organization, never missing a detail. Finally, we wish to thank Adele and John Caton for having the guts and vision to build their Field of Dreams. Yes, we will come and encourage all others to do the same. Time spent at Clayoquot is one of life's game-changers.
