“It's okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013 via mobile

Not the best that we have stayed at. But it was good enough for a night. Room was clean, but small. Breakfast was the best out of all the meals. Pool is not bad. Be careful when want to rent a motorbike from this resort. They will try to overcharge you. She wanted to charge us 180.000 but she lowered it to 150.000. We later checked at other locations about bike rentals and they charge 120.000.

We were on the way back to Saigon having tested quite a lot of hotels and for the end of a trip, that was quite disappointing : the hotel is clean, OK, but besides that, not much positive to tell ; the room was small with a very small all-in-one bathroom-toilet (just imaging adding a shower in your toilet and here you are), the beach quite inexistant especially when the waves crush you on the stairs, and the hotel itself is far from the real tourist area on the street.

My wife and I booked a one night package with The Sinh Tourist which included the bus trip to and from Mui Ne, a night’s accommodation at Mui Ne Resort in a bungalow, and meals.

Mui Ne Resort is located at the eastern end of the stretch of ocean frontage called Mui Ne, quite a distance (about 6km) from the ‘heart’ of the Mui Ne tourist strip at the western end. Unfortunately there is no sand or beach at this end of Mui Ne (except what the hotels and resorts have transported onto their properties to give the illusion of a beach) and access to the sea from the resorts is by walking down a cement ramp. This ramp extends all the way along the ocean front at the eastern end of Mui Ne. It seems most people staying at this end of Mui Ne use hotel pools for swimming, rather than the ocean. To get a true beach experience (i.e with sand extending all the way into the water) you need to stay in one of the resorts at the western end of Mui Ne.

Mui Ne Resort comprises motel/hotel type units and free standing bungalows, each of which has two accommodations. Our bungalow unit was clean, nicely decorated and well furnished with king bed, 2 bedside tables, a flat screen TV sitting on a table under which was a small refrigerator, 2 sitting chairs and a small desk. There was plenty of hanging space and drawers/shelves for clothes. Unfortunately all this furniture was contained in a rather small room which meant that there was very little empty space, making even walking around the bed difficult. In contrast the bathroom was a good size – the only negatives being no hot water (although not really needed) and the toilet required repeated flushing.

All the accommodations surround a moderately-sized pool. At the front of the resort is a large open common area which includes reception, waiting areas for passengers catching Sinh buses, and where meals are served. It can get crowded at times. The whole resort is nicely landscaped with tropical plants. Everything (drinks, food, laundry, etc) is very reasonably priced.

Our package included 2 lunches, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast. The breakfast was buffet style and quite good. Lunch and dinner were set menus (a la carte is also available). We arrived late for lunch on the first day and presumably our food had been precooked well beforehand as it was overcooked and tasteless and undeniably the worst meal we have had in Vietnam. We made sure we were early for the dinner and second lunch and these were much better quality but nothing to get excited about.

The Sinh Tourist office and bus departure point is at the front of the Resort and if you just want to stopover in Mui Ne for a night before catching a bus next day staying at the Mui Ne Resort is convenient and may be a good choice. However if you want a real beach resort experience neither Mui Ne Resort nor this eastern end of Mui Ne is recommended.
