“Very clean modern simple hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

I stayed here for 2 nights in a basic room, the rooms are simple and big, very clean and modern and have pretty good wifi, by simple I really only mean no fridge or safe but that wasn't a problem not sure about the other rooms. the staff are great and the owner is tops no problems with English so he can really help you with what you want to know about your stay. you can hire a scooter from them cheap for a whole day or half day and it is a great way to see mui ne as the roads are quieter than usual here. The restaurant at the hotel is also really good if you don't want to go to far for a meal but there is others close by. They also have a nice pool to chill at if you don't want to go across the road to the beach, nice quiet chill spot if you've just come from the city. I Highly recommend this place if your staying in mui ne.

We enjoyed the pool at Xin Chao, as well as a great location in Mui Ne. The staff were also very friendly and the manager/owner is a nice guy and gave us some great tips.

However we thought the room was rather basic compared to what we have experienced for similar money in Vietnam. There is no television, no fridge and no safe. There is also no shampoo or complimentary drinking water.

My biggest complaint (which others have also noted in their review) is how hard the bed is. At home I sleep on a "firm" mattress but this was like sleeping on the floor. This isn't a matter of personal preference - it is not confortable. We also had no hot water the morning we checked out.

We stayed in the cheapest room which was upstairs in the main building, but I would recommend you go for a pool room. Our room (Room 1) got a lot of noise from the stairwell outside our door. Also people smoke in the lobby and the smell wafts up into the room. On the positive side the room was quite large.

The front desk staff won't let you leave the hotel without handing in your room key. They probably have a legitimate reason for this, but I felt a bit uncomfortable doing this - especially as there is no in room safe. It was also odd for us as we have stayed at five other similar places in Vietnam and we have never been forced to hand over our key.

I am also disappointed that we booked via booking.com at $25 per night (cheapest room, no breakfast) but there is a large sign out the front of the hotel saying rooms from $20... I thought these sites guaranteed the lowest rates? At check out I was handed another room's bill and they were charged $20 a night for two nights (I noted it wasn't my bill as it had spa treatments etc) I asked the staff member about this but she didn't understand.

All in all Xin Chao isn't a bad spot and has friendly staff. However due to the lack of room amenities I can only awared it 3/5.

Twan L, Owner at Xin Chao Hotel, responded to this review, July 8, 2013
Hi jjswlg,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
There are a couple of things i would like to respond to.

Regarding handing over keys it is hotel policy that they must be handed over for the easy reason that some people loose or forget their keys when they go out of the hotel (we allready had a couple lost), this means that we will have to change the lock or make a new key, wich according to hotel policy will be on the guests charge, therefore we try to avoid these situations by asking the guest to leave the key at reception wich is a 100% safe.

Regarding booking.com, the rooms we have available on booking.com are the nicest rooms we offer for the price given. There is a cheaper room but that one is not promoted on booking.com. Booking through a booking engine is completely upon the guests own responsibility and the price is the same as what we offer for the rooms when people walk in. The price you saw on the bill wich was given to you by mistake was for a room with a small window (our cheapest one for this time of year).
In the section amenities/facilities on booking.com it will say that we don't offer fridges and tv's for the Villa rooms (yet). We do have a communal tv in the lobby where guests are more than welcome to watch tv.
The deluxe rooms however do have television. We have a 100% trustworthy staff and everything is safe in the room, if people do want to put something in a safe we supply that a reception.

Regarding the bed, we have chosen for a firmer matrass yes. What we hear from the guests is that they sleep really well. Unfortanetely with choice of mattresses we can't please everybody 's personal taste.
Untill now we do have more positive reactions on sleep quality than negative.

We use a solar system to heat up our water wich is a completely natural system and doesn't use any electricity (wich we have a shortage of here in Vietnam) The days that you visited were sunny and hot. With all the rooms booked, the water feels less hot in the morning than for example the end of the day.

I hope this clears a few things ,we are happy that you stayed with us and hope to see you back in the future.

Sincerely,

Twan van Lieshout

We were very happy with our find. For a touristic beach area, the price is really good. Quiet spot with everything near. Beautiful room and bathroom, a well presented swimming pool area and the staff are very friendly. We didn't prebook so after seeing ten or more hotels along the road, this by far ticked all the boxes!
We hired a motorbike and saw the sights from the information given by the staff. A perfect day and a relaxing couple of days stay!!

On the recommendation of a friend, we stayed at Xin Chao Hotel for 5 wonderful nights. The hotel was clean, fresh and tasteful. We had a large room overlooking the pool and its pretty surrounds. Didn't get to look at that view much though as we were always in the pool! Beautiful clean, clear water. a credit to the pool boy...
The staff were fantastic and the owners Paul and Tien (English and Vietnamese) were very helpful and full of information. Tien recommended various restaurants all of which we tried and really enjoyed. being new to vietnam she also answered endless questions about the food, people and culture.
We didn't end up dining at the hotel but had a great breakfast each morning with plenty of fresh fruit accompanying whatever we ordered. we even rented a scooter from one of the lovely staff. You couldn't get us off it. Freedom to explore! We took all Paul's tips and explored everywhere. A highlight being the early morning fishing village.
Hotel was in a good location across the road from the beach and close to all the action. Bus dropped us off at the front door and we picked up from the same place when we left.
Loved it. Didn't want to leave. oh and pretty cheap come to think of it. we had a standard room and it was awesome.

We were fortunate enough to stay at Xin Chao for 5 days during our visit to Mui Ne. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Paul and Tien were invaluable in creating our perfect Mui Ne experience. They happily answered our endless list of questions not only about the area but the vietnamese culture as well. The pool was a huge bonus since the ocean can be swarming with jelly fish. We were able to relax and unwind after our few days in Ho Chi Minh. The rooms were spotless and serviced daily. The breakfast has many options all fresh and delicious. They also accommodated an early breakfast for our early bus departure. During our month long tour of Vietnam this was by far the best place we stayed. Couldn't beat all the amenities, service and location for great price.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have a nice view but the garden level is pool side.

Amazing!

Clean, building and facilities finished to Western standards, not with the usual corner cut SE Asia style, from the moment we got off the bus and got greeted by one of the members of stay (who seemed to check us in, take orders in the restaurant, she was everywhere) Saying that, all the staff were amazing, always smiling, knowing which room you are in to add the food to your room, giving you the right key before even asking!

Room cleaned everyday, pool very clean, amazing food, really nice drinks! TV downstairs that meant we were able to catch the formula1. Ended up staying 4 nights, ate 2 lunches, and 1 dinner, annoyingly there was no chocolate mousse as we were hoping to try it though!

We went to look at the beach but just decided to pool each day instead as it was so nice there, you could have a perfectly nice holiday just staying at this little place and going nowhere else!
