“An excellent hotel in eco-style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Although it's a 4-star hotel, the service was perfect, the food was delicious, and any small issue we had was immediately solved by helpful staff. In high season, make sure you put your towel on the beach early in the morning.

Room Tip: Higher floors make it more difficult for insects to get into your room, however, lizards will love y...

I stayed only 02 nights at this resort at weekend in October. The room is very nice but the landscape is not nice, I think that because they built for more rooms recently then the gardens are narrowed. Outside resort, there are a lot of local restaurants and shops, but the restaurants all are terrible, all foods are so sweet... You 'd better have meals in the resort!

If you like to look for the resort that near the restaurants, bars, shops that you can go around in the evening, it is a right resort. But if you want a quite place with trees, large gardens, sea and sun. It is not a real one.

Room Tip: Nova Deluxe room are the new rooms that resort just built 2 year ago.

We stayed for 4 nights in a room at the Bamboo Village and absolutely loved it. The breakfast buffet was amazing, the room and beaches were beautiful and the location was perfect. The rooms were impeccably clean and the service was polite and accommodating.

Travelled there for 2 weeks in the end of september - beginning of october. First booked the neghbour hotel - Terracota Resort, but since it was fully booked "had" to take this one - had ZERO regret that we ended up in Bamboo.

September seems to be a rain season in Vietnam - so about half the time it was raining. Well, bad luck - but was the only aviable for us vacation time. And it was RAINING. Hotel pathways were covered in about 10 sm. of water - and drу half an hour later. Not very safe if you are wearing the rubber slippers (provided by hotel). The big umbrella for 2 people is provided by the hotel, but well, it was RAINING - so you are wet anyway.

Since it was not the peak tourist season the beach was empty - and Bamboo seems to be the only beach to be cleaned by the service staff - and they even flatten the sand in the morning! The guards kept the fruit vendors away - if you want to buy something - you had to walk to the "border" of the hotel beach. No, you cant ask the vendor to come to you - the guard will turn them out. The vendors did not sell beer - *sniff sniff* - had to go to the supermarket by myself. Sun, sky, palm-trees - all was beautiful. The water is not that clean as on the Phuket, but still. In the morning dead jellyfish all arround - HUGE jellyfish. Was a bit creepy, but got lucky and never touched it.

Since it was not the high season - all the restaurants around were empty. Bored waitresses will serve you quit quick. The food is really ok and cheap - even compared to Thailand, even though the Muine-Phanthiet is a tourist place (its situated in between of two those villages, only 1 road - with hotels and beach on the one side and shops/restaurants on the other). The best place is the "Quan Bo Ke" restaurant - fresh food (well, its even alive before cooking - fish, shrips and other seafood in baskets and water tanks), seafood on the grill, the cheapest place we were able to find. Even though its a bit far from the hotel (about 10 mins by very cheap taxi). But... its not a restaurant, but open-air tables (might be a problem if raining) - and HUGE cockroaches running all around. Dont go there if you had never eaten outdoors - all others MUST go there. The restaurants near the hotel were quite good also. Vietnam beer is not that good, compared to the thai one - only drinkable brand is the "Tiger". The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was quite good as well - fruits, european and vietnameese food. The coffee was the best.

The SPA in the hotel were very good, but expensive, compared to the just-across-the-street. But the massage in the other places was quite harsh - my wife even had the backache after one! But well, its not relaxing Thai massage, its Vietnam one.

Some annoying things about the hotel (not a big deal though):
- AC was leaking, with water constantly dropping
- Geckos all around, even in the room
- Porch door key was broken
- No bathroom curtain - after you take the shower the water is all around the floor
- bats came under our roof everyday (we lived in a bungalow), ate, dropped fruit-stones and poo on our porch and chairs

Other things:
- check in/check out was really quick
- they take your passports and keep them at the reseption
- book the bungalow

Well, long story short - yes, it is the hotel to spend your vacations in

PS sorry if my English isnt perfect

Bamboo village is a truly hidden gem! The wife and I spent Christmas there and it was amazing.

The resort offered a Christmas gala dinner. We were feeling romantic that night and requested that we be served dinner in our private, beach-front bungalow.

The manager accommodated our request and it was one of the best dinners we have had together. We had all of the courses brought to us (delicious, by the way) and had a private waiter tasked to serve us.

All in all it was an amazing trip and we will definitely be back!

Our stay was very varied.
The positives,
- The grounds were lovely with streams flowing through the entire resort, beautiful trees, nice grass, well designed path layout, good access to the beach, two pools, small play area.
- The rooms were basic but well appointed and clean. (HSK were quick and did a good job)
- Secure, Private and good air conditioning.
- Cost.

The Negatives,
- Next to no service at all, from front office or the restaurant. (Reservations provided good service and one restaurant supervisor was great but that is the extent of it)
- The Spa was OK and cheap but a bit grotty and worn, damaged massage tables and mouldy in parts.
- Extra $5 per day to get a towel for a child.
- Breakfast was only OK (no Pho available, cereal ran out, hotboxes never filled with food, etc !) and generally the food was very very average and the service worse.
- Fitness room was not airconditioned and the fan was not working properly.

We had a good stay and a lovely time but more attention to staff development would have gone a long way to making it a great stay.
