“A perfect space to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012 via mobile

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel and wish we'd had longer!

The hotel is located in a perfect position right on the beautiful beach of Mui Ne. There are lots of restaurants/bars within walking distance, literally starting at the end of the drive.

We loved the design of the hotel, we stayed in a sea view penthouse and were very pleased with the size and style of the room.

The swimming pool and sun loungers were great, a very relaxing space to chill out.

The hotel is well maintained and the level of cleanliness was good.

The Manager was very helpful and switched on and all the staff were friendly and provided a good service.

We would love to return to this resort one day for a 2 week stay and wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again.

Design of room is nice, nice pool.
No hot water in the evening. We complained, and it would be fixed, but in the morning again there was no hot water. So we had to shower two times with cold water! Very uncomfortable! Hotel manager didn't want to offer any compensation for this bad experience. Only if we stayed we would get a better room, but we rather moved to another hotel. Wifi was not working during the evening. The aircon could not be controlled from the room, so to adjust the settings, we would need to contact the front desk, but their English was a problem. So it was always too cold or too hot, or the airflow too strong or too weak. Most staff members don't speak any English, some very limited. Communication is difficult. Door needs to be locked outside with a key, doesn't lock automatically. Lots of other small problems, staff inexperienced.

At our arrival at Unique, we got very dissapointed. We were checked in to a room with sea view, and started to wonder if this was really was the room we had ordered and paid for? The room looked very basic, and we didn’t feel that It matched the suite ocean front view that we booked almost a half year earlier. We went back to the reception to ask if that really was our room. The staff member could not communicate with us, so she dialed up the hotel manager. She said that the hotel was fully booked and our room was not available before the next day. Because of that we were “upgraded” to a studio penthouse. And she promised us massage.

The problem here was the upgrade was an ordinary room with a poorer view, without Jacuzzi and smaller square meterage, BUT! At 2 floors higher! What a phony… The massage was in the beginning 15 minutes for me and my girlfriend, but got upgraded to 30 minutes each.
So the first out of three nights we spend at the hotel was in reality a downgrade and for that we got a 30 minutes massage. That is not good enough. The manager felt like she had done everything possible to correct the mistake.. We did not share that notion.

When we got our Suite Ocean Front View, the room was amazing. The sound of the waves, and incredible view, and the room amenities was just great. We can recommend the specific room, location and pool. But the service was poor. Not worthy a four starred premium resort like Unique.

What a special place. The atmosphere is cozy, clean & quiet. I was there with 10 others. I've been to many other resorts and nice hotels, but his place is special. The staff was attentive to our needs, they had just the right touch of service as to not make one feel annoyed. The time we were there made you feel like you were part of the family. Flo the general manager is awesome! Speaking with her, it felt like you were speaking to a long childhood friend. She pulled up a chair right next to us when we were done having dinner and was just so comfortable in speaking with us. She makes the place even more Unique than it really is. I highly recommend this place. Like my title states this place has a Unique Flo. and I think anyone that visits it will say the same. I would love to go back.

Unique Mui Ne should be re-named ‘Uniquely Florence’ because that is exactly what this hotel is. Never before have I met such a professional, personable, humble, down-to-earth and passionate manager of a boutique hotel. If you wanted a smurf to take you for a 30 minute jet ski, Florence could probably arrange it. She and her family may have a financial interest in the hotel’s future but you know from the moment you walk in that, it’s not money that motivates Florence, it’s the building and her clients. I am as critical as the rest but she really has put her heart and soul into this. She is the beating heart and pulse. Without her, ‘Unique Mui Ne’ would be like many of the faceless hotels that line the main beach road. Then again, that’s a little unfair as the location is stunning with a sparkling new Miami-style infinity pool seamlessly marrying the hotel to the beach.
I stayed for two nights in the low season of mid-August (2012) and there is no doubt that ‘Unique Mui Ne’ was still in its development phase and a few wrinkles needed to be ironed out. This will be done quickly so by Christmas, I expect this to be not just THE place to stay but THE place to hang out and be seen. Mui Ne is missing this so the hotel fills that gap. Expect live music, DJs, cocktails, a pumping atmosphere and a lot of fun. The roof bar has breathtaking views over the beach and Florence’s years of experience in Miami and Hawaii means she has big plans to rattle the competition and raise the bar. Maybe the bar could be called ‘Florence’s’. Something needs her name. New Year’s Eve 2012 will be one big party and, by then, the current shell will be awash with colour. Like ‘faceless’, ‘shell’ may also be a harsh description but the spa is in its teething phase, the art is going up slowly but surely and the resort next door is in the process of building an extension. The builders start early and Florence is constantly pushing so by Christmas, the noise will have gone and the extension built. The same applies to ‘Unique Mui Ne’ with plans to exhibit new artists, for the spa to compete with the best and for the infinity pool to light up the beachfront more than neighbouring and very plush (and very expensive) Antara. Florence knows what she wants and she has the network to back up her creativity and is in the throes of building the best team to make it happen. The basics hit the mark. The bed was heaven so expect a deep sleep. The bathroom is brand new with all the modern fixtures and fittings, including a small but effective rainforest shower and voluminous bath. The room, like the restaurant and all the public areas, was spotlessly clean at all times. The food was excellent and served with a smile. Breakfast is huge and varied. You will need it if you’re going to do what Mui Ne is renowned for: kite-surfing.

Mui Ne is a kite-surfing mecca. No windsurfing. No surfing (waves aren’t big enough). Pure kite-surfing and THE best school in town is directly on site with a discount for all Unique Mui Ne residents. The school is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team (even if not married on paper, they’re destined for it) and their carefully selected unit of instructors. Safety is priority, experience speaks volumes and the training certificates that line the wall more than give weight to their professionalism. When you’re grappling with the kite in these gusts, believe me you want to know you’re with the best.

I stray. Back to the hotel. First impressions last. In this one rare case, it didn’t. My first impression wasn’t the best due to a couple of glitches but Florence fixed those within five minutes. Thereafter I slept the best I’ve done in ages, had my first kite-surfing lesson (a phenomenal experience, was well fed and was looking forward to an organised jeep tour of the famous white sand dunes at sunrise. The 4:30am wake-up call wasn’t ideal but Florence couldn’t change the earth’s direction. She would have tried though! Watch this space, ‘Uniquely Florence’ is going to light up Mui Ne big time. 10/10 for effort. 10/10 for potential.

Room Tip: Ocean facing for sure..

They were really friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Hotel was very clean and the rooms were cleaned everyday, so no complaints there!
we only ate breakfast at the hotel and it was ok.
This was the only hotel to have access to the beach and stunning veiws of the beach and surroundings.
Just outside the hotel were plenty of spa's, places to shop and lovely resterants to eat and drink at. The bars were also very friendly and served lovely cocktails!
To sum this holiday up it was amazing and would definitely return to this hotel.

Room Tip: pick a suite as it has the best veiw of the beach and surrounding areas!
